Boy oh boy still Mare stare, never thought she would be this late. Pasture breeding.

Held them back last year, didn't want babies in cold weather, but this is getting too long.

How many more out there, still waiting. ????? :new_shocked:

Just went out to the barn and took picture not the best of light at night.

Not even a full udder.

 In the past I've always hand bred. Last year -- I lost my mind and field bred

: , gets worse, it was late in the year! Soooo, today my first foal arrived. :aktion033: Have, oh, 6-8 more, it appears.

Six were with him but, fenceline romance is evident on two -- just can't trust those guys

Here's the one I felt would go another week.........WRONG!!!!....maidens will make you nuts!!!!

When I realized the "tiny tan thing by the fence" was not a dog, I brought them both up to a pen & handle the foal for a day or two. Heck, by them I may have another one...5 preggers are maidens. Yes, I'm a glutten for punishment

: Six were in the heavily pregnant field but not under cam as none were showing enough. Well, not what the others have always shown -- so, there ya go! AND the filly fairy wasn't here to help me out either

Still on mare stare here. Have 2 more that we know of pregnant. 1 is due any time but get this the other may not be due till sept!!!! So u are not alone. And Bess thats a cute baby u got!!

I'm still waiting on one mare to foal. Pasture bred last year. This mare came into heat in April. I hadn't seen any signs of her being pregnant other then the pregnant looking belly she always has. She was bred in April multiple times. Left her in with the stallion to try to get some weight off her. I kept watching her because she sure looked pregnant. Towards the beginning of June, I saw and felt baby movement!! She was taken out of the stallion's pen, but she is still totally in looooooooovvvvvvvve with him and hangs by the fence line all the time. I've seen more baby movement. No bag development at all. The stallion she was bred to last year was taken out of the field with the mares on 9/1. No one was cycling, no one interested in the stallion at all. Everyone else was bred and had babies this year already. Sometime over the winter I put my then yearling colt out with the bred mares to learn some manners. None of the mares was interested in him at all and he showed no interest towards them. I guess there is still a shot that she was bred to the stallion I intended her to be bred to, but we're running out of time unless it's going to be a longer then normal gestation. I would think she would have started bagging up by now. So??? Am I going to have a winter baby? I just don't know!!!

We just had our last foal of the year born this morning about 3:30.

It definately has been a stud year for us. Out of 12 foals, we only have 2 fillies :new_shocked:

All went well for this little guy and his mom today. So i am happy

Not done here yet! I have two of my best mares due in Sept. One of them, my favorite, Stary Night was bred all spring and summer in 2005 to Captain. Never got in foal as she kept cycling.

Finally, in October I gave her to Flash. She settled right away! This cross produced a gorgeous splashed white overo filly last year.

Serena foaled last June and I thought I was going to keep her open. But Oct roles around, Stary Night is being bred and I thought what the heck. A buddy for Stary Nights' baby! Serena is in foal to Captain and it will be his last foal for me as he's been sold. It should be very colorful!

Me Too!!! I only bred 2 mares for this year. Due end of July....I have my cameras going in the mare barn and have been on :new_shocked: for a few weeks now....I know that I am exhausted and can't wait for the foals to be here. No foals for us for next year....."I" need a break from foaling. Everyone here loves the babies, but "I" am the one staying up all night and going to work and ect.ect.ect....My husband wanted to breed our new mare Bea and I think he did so on the sly

: , time will tell...Good Luck to all who are keeping the cameras company in the wee hours of the night....Theresa

We also have one more to go and I just pray she wont go as long as our Baby did her foal born Monday night was at 360 days gestation and we had a very long mare stare as her last foal born two years ago was born at 317 so we watched round the clock from day 315 to 360. Our last mare to foal is due in August and I pray she will have it in August. Not on stare with her yet but soon will be.

We are still waiting, too!! We only bred one mare last year; her 330 day date is July 26. Then we purchased a mare whose 330 day date is Aug. 15. So we're in full watch now. I feel sorry for these poor pregnant girls down here in Texas. It is hot, hot, hot! So we won't be breeding either of them back this summer. We're going to wait and try to get everyone back on early spring due dates!

We still have four to go and three of them are maidens :new_shocked:

Ours aren't due till late August/Sept WHAT WAS I THINKING????

Mary We are still waiting and just heard from lady we are gettng a mare from she will be due in Aug or Sept .So will be waiting on two.

We still have one to foal. She was bred as I led her through a pasture for Carl Mitz to look at her teeth on Oct 31st!

The one and only mare we have been waiting on. The hussy. Turns out she has been pulling our leg all along. She bagged up real nice mid April. Her bag just went down last week and her tummy has gotten a lot smaller.

I guess she just wanted to be pamperd and watched for the past 3 months.

Oh well. It looks like it will be about 10 months before we see a baby. (if the breeding last month took on one of our other mares)
