Well I have a bit of a problem I have three miniatures and the time has come where the need to be seperated for their feedings. The one eats about four times faster than the other two and as such things are getting very out of balance. They have two stalls that are connected that have always been walk in/out stalls. However now is the time that I will be needing to divide the larger stall (12x13) into two so they can be seperated. This divide has to be done for various reasons and it will be temporary as we will add onto the barn but not until next summer. I don't like the idea of having two of them in the small stalls overnight but after measuring everything it seems that it actually will be quite roomy for the two smaller minis. Right now it's either that or one of them is going to end up seriously ill from over eating. There are no other seperation options given my set up.

My question is do you have any suggestions for a temporary (but still solid/reliable etc) divider for a stall?

Any input you may have will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much

Sarah

For a quick temp fix, you can divide it with a 12 ft gate, what I did was screwed two 2x4's so one end could be wired or clamped in and not sure how your stall is made but the other end you would have to make it so you can slide it over to get in the other side.

Just a thought it worked for me but it is a pain sliding it over sometimes, and not sure how you will secure the loose end maybe a latch of some sort.

Hope that helps

I think you can get 12ft panels with a gate in it so that might work without having to move it. Could you maybe post pis of your set-up and may get a few more "creative" answers.

We recently divided one of our 12x12 stalls on a temporary basis. Since we didn't want to spend ANY money for a temporary divider, we used what we had. We used 4 pieces of conduit (like PVC pipe but more flexible and not likely to shatter) as the 'fence' and just tacked them to a board. For a gate, we just made a wooden one. Not the most lovely set up, but it was safe and it worked for us. If you have a horse that tends to lean on the walls, this wouldn't work. Good luck!

We built our large stalls the same way we saw a large barn built

We put U channels on either side and then slid the wooden pannels in.

It allows us to do many things ... one we can remove it totally and make

the stall as large or small as we want and two we can make the wall as tall

or short as we want !

We use cattle pannels to devide our large stalls into 2 box stalls. Put 2 eye screws in either side of the wall.

Use double ended snaps to snap the pannel to the wall. We have done this off & on for 7 years. cjmm

Thanks for the replies!! Anymore ideas would be appreciated! I do like the idea of slotting in planks of wood so the stall can once again be "big". I know a few people with stalls like that and they seem to work out quite well. The only problem would be figureing out how to put in a "gate" of somesort so the first horse can get into his stall. Ayyyyye.
