Each dog I tried to have in my life got taken away from me and my heart was broken. Having mini horses, I never wanted a dog because my horses come first and if a dog ever attacked a horse, bye-bye doggie! So we stayed dogless. The thought would come once in a while but no breed was perfect. Until I researched the Anatolian!
Understand WHY this is so HUGE for me, it has taken me 25 years for my heart to heal enough to get another dog!
Something has taken (eaten) almost all of my beloved cats, incuding pets. We went from 30 to 4 outside cats! Two were attacked but got away so now they're in the house, recovered from the wounds. I've been afraid for my foals!
Everything about Anatolians were perfect for me!
A friend found a puppy and when I contacted the people and asked about her, they told me she was 2 months old. I was scared and not sure what would happen. Hubby and I drove 4 hours to go see her.
They brought her out and I was expecting a 2 month old baby and out came this big pup that is (they said) 5 months old! I thought oh she's not what I expected but when she looked up and I saw that face, I said that's all she wrote, I was a gonner! She came through the door, straight to my hubby and started loving on him and she said "Can we go home now?" OK so we fell in love and she joined our family!
She was at the SPCA and had been brought in by Animal Control the month before.
Thought we would be in the car for 4 long hours with a barking crazy pup! (being happy) NOPE! She laid on the back seat and we've yet to hear her bark! She has great manners!
So we adopted a rescue doggie. They micochipped her, spayed her, gave us food, insured her, gave us a new collar and leash. And it was so easy to get her!
I don't see her as being the "Anatolian" that I dreamed of, but we love her! She likes to sit on the couch and watch TV with daddy LOL! She's a daddy's girl so I may have to keep looking for that guard dog I wanted. We just got home with her last night. This pup has her own room, a yard, toys and big bed and ohhh she's not getting spoiled at all!
She carries her ears up so they flop over at the tops. The pics where they stand up is cuz the wind was blowing. She carries her tail curled up. She has in her first adult molars in the back and I guess she's about 15-17" tall? I'd LOVE to know if she has any Anatolian and how much in your opinion?
Here she is! http://www.rokominis.com/website1_018.htm
I've named her Roxy!
