Each dog I tried to have in my life got taken away from me and my heart was broken. Having mini horses, I never wanted a dog because my horses come first and if a dog ever attacked a horse, bye-bye doggie! So we stayed dogless. The thought would come once in a while but no breed was perfect. Until I researched the Anatolian!

Understand WHY this is so HUGE for me, it has taken me 25 years for my heart to heal enough to get another dog!

Something has taken (eaten) almost all of my beloved cats, incuding pets. We went from 30 to 4 outside cats! Two were attacked but got away so now they're in the house, recovered from the wounds. I've been afraid for my foals!

Everything about Anatolians were perfect for me!

A friend found a puppy and when I contacted the people and asked about her, they told me she was 2 months old. I was scared and not sure what would happen. Hubby and I drove 4 hours to go see her.

They brought her out and I was expecting a 2 month old baby and out came this big pup that is (they said) 5 months old! I thought oh she's not what I expected but when she looked up and I saw that face, I said that's all she wrote, I was a gonner! She came through the door, straight to my hubby and started loving on him and she said "Can we go home now?" OK so we fell in love and she joined our family!

She was at the SPCA and had been brought in by Animal Control the month before.

Thought we would be in the car for 4 long hours with a barking crazy pup! (being happy) NOPE! She laid on the back seat and we've yet to hear her bark! She has great manners!

So we adopted a rescue doggie. They micochipped her, spayed her, gave us food, insured her, gave us a new collar and leash. And it was so easy to get her!

I don't see her as being the "Anatolian" that I dreamed of, but we love her! She likes to sit on the couch and watch TV with daddy LOL! She's a daddy's girl so I may have to keep looking for that guard dog I wanted. We just got home with her last night. This pup has her own room, a yard, toys and big bed and ohhh she's not getting spoiled at all!

She carries her ears up so they flop over at the tops. The pics where they stand up is cuz the wind was blowing. She carries her tail curled up. She has in her first adult molars in the back and I guess she's about 15-17" tall? I'd LOVE to know if she has any Anatolian and how much in your opinion?

Here she is! http://www.rokominis.com/website1_018.htm

I've named her Roxy!

She's beautiful though and I'm glad that you guys took her in, it sounds like she'll be a perfect fit for your family. It's weird how they capture your heart so quickly, isn't it?

CONGRATULATIONS Robin! Hope she'll prove to be your dream dog! She looks more Akita or Shiba Inu to me than Anatolian.

I agree with Mona. Maybe even might have some Chow? Whatever she is Robin, I hope Roxy will reaffirm your love for dogs. I know mine have always been my babies and I could not imagine my life without these loyal, loving creatures.

She's LOVELY, Robin........and she does want a JOB........Give her the love, but start showing her the boundaries too. What a doll!

I see Chow or Akita more than anything too. But, sounds like she has made herself at home so far and she will surely be a guard dog for the house.

Now you just need to find yourself that outside guard dog...

Congrats on your new dog.

She looks like she is a chow mix.

Hope you'll get all the love you deserve from her.

Roxy is a cutie for sure.

Beautiful Puppy and she looks like she will fit in well with you and your family REO!

Thank you! We went shopping again today. Now she has indoor toys and out door toys! Her dog bed is filled with fun things and our counters are filled with food and treats!

She's such a good girl!

So funny playing with her big ball!

She's been meeting the horses through the fence and "marking" around her yard. She can *just* get through cattle panels so until she grows more, she has to stay in her yard when we're not walking her or she's not in the house. I've started with teaching her already but she was just spayed on Friday so I'm letting her heal and settle in.

We just love her!

She MAY have some Anatolian in her, but ??? If you didn't get her from a breeder, it is anyones guess. I have a had a lot of experience with the breed, and in my personal opinion, she looks more Inu breeding to me (akita, shiba, Shikoku). Try this wesight for more info on the Anatolian, hope this helps.

Besides all that, looks like you got yourself a nice dog there. Have fun with her, and don't spoil her too badly!

Don't spoil her? TOO LATE!

We've only had her home 27 hours and she has:

a big plush bed, a blanket, a big yard ball, two smaller balls, a stuffed doggie, a stuffed fish, a rope toy, a chew bone, milk bones, dog treats, new dog dishes, wet food, two kinds of dry food, and a new daddy on the couch!

She has us wrapped around her paws!

I agree with Mona about some Akita being in her. Give her time and I bet she becomes your guard dog
