I was working through the locking stiffle issue, but Tipsey showed me she did not want to drive by blowing up in the cart one day. I continued to ground drive her, while trying to decide what to do. I knew I would never hook her up to a vehicle again. No hurry, as she was a good companion for Dapper Dan. I was telling my friend about the episode; she has helped me twice with Tipsey's training, and really liked her. She suggested that I did not have the skill or ability to work Tipsey through this stage; that Tipsey really needed a better trainer.
So, I started thinking about that and decided to call the woman where I got Tipsey and offer her back--instead of finding a pet home. The woman was excited to get her back. She was not concerned about the stifle issue, as she had dealt with it before. She was satisfied with the way I had handled Tipsey's blowup, and was pleased with everything I had done with her so far. She is planning to send her to a professional training team and feels confident Tipsey can drive.
I am hoping to hear good things about Tipsey in the future. I believe, after working with her for 9 months, that she is not a dependable driving horse but some people love that dash of unpredictability and the challenge of working with it. More power to them!
