Top 5 BOOKS???

How about AUTHORS???

Mary Stewart wrote the Merlin Series.....

Other authors I like are Judith Michael (a husband/wife team), Luanne Rice, Roberta Gellis, and Charlotte Vale Allen. I also like Nicholas Sparks.

Hubby likes Tolkien, Eddings, Jordan....and some other fantasy writers.

All by Stephen King:

The Stand

The Dark Tower / Gunslinger Series

Under The Dome

The Talisman (with Peter Straub)

Black House (with Peter Straub)

His books always make me laugh and cry, and sometimes keep the light on (scared)

Reading's one of my favorite things. I "read" almost exclusively listening to unabridged audio books -- it's just so relaxing and I don't miss / skim over anything (and hands free to cuddle a dog LOL). I'm just into Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire series and LOVE it. I like a lot of Dean Koontz, too. But, for me, I just love how deep / intricate the characters and story lines in Stephen King's books are. I love to read many authors, but when I am into an SK book, it's just like "ahhhh" and feels like there's a lot more to it than in some of the other books I enjoy. I just feel like I'm soaking it all in when I'm into an SK book.

PS Cool thread, Matt!

I hate picking favorites, it's just too hard! I'm a voracious reader, can't live without a book to read, and listen to an audiobook when I clean stalls.

Here are some:

James Herriot's books, I've been rereading them since I was young.

Love Walked In Marisa De los Santos

Beauty by Robin McKinley

Harry Potter Series

Indigo's Star by Hilary McKay (the whole series)

Robert Jordan

Cherry Hill

Jim Butcher (I'm working on his series now and boy is it ever good, has some adult language though, not child appropriate)

Jilly Cooper

Louise Hay

Jodi Picoult

James Patterson

Then there are the classics:

My Ebook goes everywhere with me.

One of the 1st books that I read was Watership Down (Richard Adams), I loved that book.

The 2nd fav book I read, that I loved was The Hobbit (Tolkien).

Then I got addicted to The Clan Of the Cave Bears series (Jean Auel), I read all of them.

I wish I had time to do some reading these days, it takes you away from the worries of life.

MoMinis... I must have re- read Riders about 30 times, I swear! It was really good. There was a sequeal, but had little about Jake in it, so I didn't love it like I did Riders.

Robin

A sequel???? I'd love to read it! Do you recall the title? Thanks, I had no idea one was out there. Jake was my favorite good guy, but Billy stole my heart. lol

Did you read Jilly Cooper's Polo? I liked it even better than Riders...

But my top list would have to include Lord of the Rings, Watership Down, Harry Potter, The Princess Bride, James Herriott... I have to think of some more.

My favourite author just died Dick Francis, I also like Diana Gabaldon (for her time travelers series), Catherine Cookson, Mary Stewart, John Grisham, Nora Roberts writing as JD Robb, I don't like her romance novels just her futuristic detective novels, Maeve Binchey. I really like Horseplay by Judy Reene Singer but I don't know if she wrote anything else. I read all the time, anywhere, anyplace.

Yvonne

Thought of a couple more I haven't read in awhile but love.....West With The Night by Beryl Markham, have read this two or three times, wonderful well crafted book! and Ride The Wind by Lucia St. Clair Robson, about Cynthia Ann Parker & the last days of the Comanche. Oliver Stone too, The Origin, The Greek Treasure, etc. So many books I've read and relegated to bookshelves....may have to go back and reread some great ones lol, hard to find great ones now without filtering through a lot of not great ones.
