Well we went again today to Westfield Heritage Village, the colours were beautiful and we took lots of pics

There were lots of people walking around looking at the village and enjoying being out in the open air with their families, we had lots of people wanting to pat the minis and the others too

Sadly we don't have places like that over here on this side of the country, so I really enjoying seeing yours!

PLease tell us what type of cart that you are using for each mini and the height of the mini.

Thanks

( who is still searching for the right cart )

Elizabeth I am using a wooden easy entry cart that I had the mennonites build, Munchie is 32.5" and Lori is using a meadowbrook cart also built by the mennonites, I think Dream is a B but I am not sure of her height.

This was a treat. It made me feel like I was in another time, like the turn of the century.

Thanks for sharring these great pics.

You are welcome Marty, we felt like we were in the past too, especially when the lady started playing Danny Boy on a stringed instrument, I can't remember what it is called but I will post the pic on another post as wellas the pics of the insides of the building.

I love the train picture!! You guys look like you had a blast!! It reminds me of trips that we would take to Sturbridge Village in N.E.

Thanks

Thank you to Yvonne for capturing our wonderful day! We couldn't have had better weather for the Westfield drive. The ex-president of our club drives his wagon for the village all year long and has done so for several years. As a thankyou the village allows our club the use of their property for a fun drive every fall and is it ever wonderful to be able to take advantage of it! The trail you see going past the train station leads to miles of wide pea gravel paths that meander through the woods. My little horse loving friend Randi was along with me and she really enjoyed the day too!

This was Dream's first outing at a venue of this kind and she was more than a little edgy

As we trotted around the village square an acorn fell from a tree and bonked her on the head which sent her scooting! We dared the covered bridge and met an INDIAN fully outfitted with bow and arrows and deerskins. When she finally decided that everything was okay and she was NOT going to die, after about an hour and a half, I let Randi take the reins for a little bit and she did really well with Dream. Randi is going to be showing with us next season.

Tickle actually is a Mini and I am really proud of he and Judi. Less than 2 months ago Judi was terrified to drive him and yesterday they spent almost 4 hours on the streets and trails of the village and got along great! Tickle is an ex pony ride horse and had some issues
default_sad.png
but he is a great little driving horse now.

Both mine and Yvonne's carts were made by a Mennonite man by the name of Doug Jantzi from Ontario. Judi's cart was also made by a Mennonite by the name of Simeon Martin I believe, again from Ontario. Judi's cart is actually a pony cart and a little large for Tickle, needs slightly smaller wheels, but with its wicker basket it is quite beautiful.

Thank you again for the photos Yvonne! Wish I was still there.........

I see my post was deleted, presumably because of the *elbow elbow wink wink* style joke I made to Lori.

Oh now you HAVE to pm me Leia! I can take a joke!

I should also tell you all that this village is almost entirely self funded along with some donations and run by VOLUNTEERS. They have kept the entry fees very affordable. It is only open on weekends from early spring till late fall as all those people also have full time jobs.
