I have recently broken my 34” 3yr to drive. He’s been in the carriage approx 10 times. Mainly walk but a couple of short trots too. My terrain is grass or farm track (a bit challenging with small stones) he isn’t ready to go on the road which is tarmac and easier pulling. My question is should I persevere and hope he finds it easier once he’s got used to it or have I done enough for now and give him a few months off to grow. He’s in a bellcrown at 50kgs and I am 70kgs. I am also wondering if pneumatic tyres would be better.

3 years and 34" should be fine for that kind of work. A suggestion if you are concerned about the small stones is boots. They would also be a benefit when you get out onto the paved road.
Pneumatic are certainly easier for them to work with and more comfortable.
I would not stop working; he will build up his carting muscles and lung strength. jmo
