I drove to Meridian Mississippi on Thursday to visit Glenn Oaks. It is normally about a three hour drive, but I left early as it was raining and I arrived earlier than I anticipated, but Madge Glenn and her daughter Sammy Reeves were very gracious and came out to the highway and met me, even though they weren't quite ready yet! Reminded me of Marty and her thong incident, only both ladies were very well put together!

The grounds are absolutely gorgeous with large trees and rolling pastures. Katrina made mincemeat out of some of the trees, but they have been working hard to clean the place up and it looks wonderful. We started in the stallions pasture. I got to meet some handsome little gentlemen, and they were all beautiful.

We drove over to meet the younger mares, and I was introduced to some of the tiniest, most perfect little horses in miniature you'd ever want to meet. Sammy has her set, and they are gorgeous. I love the tiny ones.

After that we visited the mature mares, and a gorgeous little colt that was frolicking all over the place. I could have watched that little guy for hours! He seemed sooo brave, running FAR from Mom, then charging back full speed ahead.

Next were the ladies in waiting who are due any time. A bunch of fat and sassy ladies they are, too.

I got to tour the big barn, which gives me something to strive for, and that is all I can say about that. It is gorgeous, and functional, and I hope to have something like that one of these days.

The yearlings were near the big barn, and again, I had my breath taken away by the rolling spring-green pasture dotted with tiny little horses. They were just lovely. I can't say enough about them.

Thanks for the ride on the golf cart, Madge. That was a thrilling experience!

All in all, it was a wonderful, fun-filled afternoon. Madge and Sammy were the most considerate hosts, and very much the horse-ladies I expected them to be. I learned a lot from my visit, and hope to go back sometime when I can spend longer there with them, talking about horses and non horse topics, laughing, and having a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Thanks Madge and Sammy,

Ahhh it sounds like a horse lovers dream!! Pictures for us poor people stuck at home????

Well, as far as pictures go, I have to be ashamed of myself. I had the camera, yes. I did take some photos of the smaller barns as I am planning to build a barn this year. Took some of the big barn, too, to hang on the wall of my barn with the caption "This is what I want to be when I grow up."

I didn't get pictures of their beautiful horses, though. It was drizzling rain, and although my little camera isn't fancy, it is the only digital I have, so I didn't get it out. sorry.

Just use your imagination for now, and next time I go (and I will. I think they thought I was kidding when I said I was gonna come and bring my kids and spend the day and maybe the night...they said come on it would be fun) I will get some pictures!
