Some of you know my husband, Bob, is a newspaper columnist and a member of a morning radio show in the Twin Cities. Now, he's doing commentaries for the ABC-TV affiliate in Minnesota. They're meant to be edgy, informative, funny and just different. They are giving him a lot of freedom to pick current news topics and he is using some great movie clips and photos during the one minute commentary to get his point across.

He started the commentaries last week and does them during the local news on KSTP-TV Channel 5 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. After they run during the news they post them on their website.

He'd really like to hear feedback (good or bad) so I thought of posting it here in case anyone was willing to watch a couple and let him know what you think.

My personal motivation is I want him to keep this gig up so he can continue to support my mini addiction so lots of feedback and suggestions would be great :bgrin

Sanny's husband on Channel 5

OK, just my first impression...I LOVED IT. He's agressive but also throws in a bit of comedic flare with the inserted video clips. Did a real good job of keeping my attention.

Please keep in mind that I am a fat, grumpy old man who can't stand idiotic people pushing their screwy ideals and/or shady practices on everyone else. I can see where he might rub some "gentler" people the wrong way. Not everyone likes open honesty.

If I lived up there, I would look forward to seeing his commentary. It's better than anything I've seen on the local news in Houston in the last 3 years.

Ideas for future clips:

Office Space, Star Wars, South Park, Beavis & Butthead, Ace Ventura, the Godfather, and Rocky

I use sounds clips from all of these (and a lot more) at work frequently.

I really enjoyed watching his clips!! He tells it like it is and I respect that. I expect alot of other people will too!! Good Job!!

Sanny,

I think he might "rub some people the wrong way"

I LOVED listening to him, the only complaint I have is they need to give him a bit more time!

I have a sister in "Eagan" I'll have to check with her and her husband and see what they think.

What a wonderful "conversation starter"

:aktion033: Wouldn't change a thing,except give him a half hour show!

I think I may love your husband. hehe.

I think he does a fantastic job. I'm sure there will be people who don't care for his opinions but i think his sounds offs are excellent and i wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it.

He keeps this up he might end up with his own fan club. lol.

Waaaaaaaaaaaa.......... My download is too slow to watch  I'll have to make sure we watch channel 5 on Tues and Thurs nights from now on!

My only suggestion - could find a better picture of Bob for the website? :new_shocked: Bob is much better looking than that picture! :bgrin :bgrin It doesn't do him justice at all!

:stupid: Thanks everyone for all the encouraging and fun feedback.

I'll be passing it along and tell him he has a "mini fan club" :aktion033:

They will keep posting the new commentaries on the same link for the tv station website if you want to continue to follow it.

What you see is pretty much what you get 24/7 with him whether on tv or in person. The only difference I see is he is cleaned up, shaved and wearing a suit which he doesn't have to do with his other jobs.

He's an Italian that grew up in New Jersey and is loud, opinionated and talks fast in person too. I'm always telling him to quit yelling and use his "indoor voice".

He frequently "rubs people the wrong way" especially if people disagree with his opinion or they ask his opinion but then don't like hearing the truth instead of something nice or a little bit more sensitive or politically correct. I learned a long time ago not to ask him questions like "does my butt look big" or "does my hair look OK?" or "does it look like I've gained weight?". The sort of questions where you might know the truth but don't really want to hear it.

Worse yet is when we are out somewhere and he just decides to tell someone what he thinks or starts asking them personal or inappropriate questions. Those would be the times I walk away and pretend not to be with him or just do this... :stupid:

EDITED TO ADD: Having said all that, I love him just the way he is and wouldn't change a thing

He has pointed out more than once in his own defense that he makes his living doing what he does because of the way he is. I can't argue about that one - he does have a point.

Anyway, thanks to those that took the time to watch what he has done so far. Don't forget after you watch the clips to click on the e-mail link and give feedback to the TV station. They track that stuff and really like to hear feedback from viewers. You can also suggest current events or topics for him to cover.
