We replaced our beloved riding horse, Kya, that was too small for my daughter to ride. She went to an awesome home where mom and daughter will be riding her.
Introducing our new horse:
We don't have a name for her yet. She's an awesome western riding horse, a blue-eyed registered paint, and so well trained she does things we're not even familiar with! LOL
Then this one has a much more interesting story. Cricket is a pony about 13h and was advertised for a "non aggressive" home. When I talked to the man, he said she'd been broke to ride by a man that used her ears-- and broke hard. Didn't like men and did okay with women. They had had several people look at her, but when Sarah got there she and this horse bonded immediately and they were amazed at how well she responded. So we made a deal to trade a mini for her and they promised to deliver her in a couple days. When they got here they recognized my unregistered grey mare that I'd found at HH. They were shocked and disappointed that the woman they'd traded with had sold her to the horse trader. They had been promised first refusal. The mother and one of the boys started crying. The boy broke this mare to ride and had her in harness-- which is the reason I bought her in the first place. I thought she'd make an awesome driving horse!! The grey mare was R registered (they had kept the papers) and had been bred to their R stallion the year before. I offered to buy her papers but they wanted the mare instead. I just couldn't say no to them. The deal wasn't what we started out with, but we traded the original mini and this grey mini for the pony in foal and asked to foal out the grey mare and keep her baby, which they promised to make registerable. They are awesome, caring people, and will take great care of the minis. They show big horses and every animal on their property was well loved and healthy. I couldn't ask for a better home.
The grey mare had been traded for the pony-- they were hoping she was their next show mare for the young boy. But since she is in foal, that wouldn't work for them.
I hope that wasn't too long.... I just had to share the amazing coincidence of the story. We were all shaking our heads and saying, things happen for a reason!
Introducing Cricket:
The grey mare, Ginger Snapper, is under camera right now because they told us they'd bred her right after her April 2005 baby.
