We flew out- so one 7hr plane ride on the 16th, and we were safely home. The plane ride wasn't fun, as my stomach decided I must've ate something it didn't like, AND my eyes are wonky (we believe from the Effexor, which I'm proud to say I am no longer taking- I sucessfully weaned off it!) so I was getting some motion sickness issues at first.

But, regardless..... WE'RE HOME!!!! I'm thrilled to death, and so is Dave. And Nathan took a few days to recover from all the strange people and places... but now he loves his maternal grandmother, his uncle, and his "papa" (my step-dad

) ... he's still not sure about the dog though. :p

Dave is already looking for work- and I've considered doing the same, but I know what will happen, and have to keep reminding myself that it's probably better not to even try looking. Better to have no job history then a history of 2-day stints, eh?

Anyways, we're settled for the moment south of McMinnville, West of Salem... lil town called Willamina. I hope to stay in this area >.>

So far, so good. Our stuff should be arriving in the next week or so, and I'm going to start looking into schooling... pondering Equine Massage therapy?

Welcome back to the Pacific Northwest......

There 'ain't' no place like home!
You got that right!

Hubby and I keep going "I haven't seen (or had, or... etc) for three years!" or "Look, it's _____! They didn't have that in Ohio!"

LOL It was an amusing drive home frm the airport. About half an hour out, hubby sort of stopped and then went "Even the air smells different..."

... the water doesn't taste like algae, and smell very strongly of algae or chlorine. There are real hills and mountains.. and most of all... I KNOW where I am.

I feel more centered then I have in the entire time I was away. This is home- and my heart, body, and soul know it.

Welcome Back!

You're living in the general area that Larry and I would live in IF we moved back to "the valley"!

AND you have a number of other mini horse people all around you!

Enjoy!

Hey, if you moved back, I'll help with the horses :p

It's really just lovely here... even though it's the end of winter and everything is all "blech", I just cannot stop soaking up the sceanery everytime we leave the house.

Welcome home!! We'll be in Albany for the Oregon pinto shows in May and August. You should come check it out! I'm not sure if Equine massage therapy is a very lucrative career. You have to be in an area that would really support it. I'd put some feelers out to see how many people would use your services before investing time and money into school. Regardless, I'm sure you will find something that suits you. Good Luck!!

Oh, welcome back to the most beautiful state in the US!

(I'm not biased, or anything!)

I hope we can meet in the near future. The NWMHC is hosting a couple of events in the next few months such as the Schooling Clinic in Longview, WA (it is free) and the Schooling Show in Boring, OR (it is free to come watch, of course, and jeeeeesh if my hubby doesn't make it home from Southern OR or I talk someone into it, I may need someone to watch little ones and/or horses *LOL*).

If you guys come to the coast, you should look me up. You are welcome to come by and visit the horses anytime. Too bad you're not closer, I could use another horse savvy house/horse sitter/feeder for when we go on vacations.

This IS a wonderful state and I know how you feel about it. I'm smart enough to know I could doubtfully live anywhere else and if I HAD to, I would be pining constantly for my home territory. I just belong here.

Congratulations!

I will hope that all goes well in the pursuit of employment for your hubby and for you if you decide to.

Liz M.

Well, if I can, I'll happily visit shows... Could be hard to do though, since we have no vehicle or gas money till one of us (erm, hubby) can find work. No problem watching kids... or horses, provided the possible addition of the amazingly and entirely too-cute Nathan is not a problem

Not sure how big equine massage is here, either. Pondered just posting on the sales board... I'm perfectly happy cleaning stalls and grooming!!!

We're hoping to find work and such soon- we don't want to impose on my mother any longer then we have to.

I'm hoping to get out and meet horse people around here eventually. My head hasn't been quite as mixed up lately, even though I'm no longer on meds. I'd absolutely adore meeting mini owners!

Welcome back to Oregon!!! :aktion033:

My partner, Tracy, was born and raised here in Oregon and moved to MD for almost 2 years...when she finally moved back here she was like "I am HOME!!!" I would feel the same way, I know, if I HAD to live in another state....Oregon IS home!
