What a start to the year

I found out yesterday that THE vet for doing equine reproduction (also a friend of my good friends) committed suicide just after Christmas.

I no more got in the door yesterday from the barn, where I heard that sad news, and my Mom tells me my cousin tried to commit suicide and is in hospital

He was here just before Christmas to see the puppies, and then brought his kids back to see them.....

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He has a long, long road ahead of him.

Then I was talking to a fellow Cardigan Corgi enthusiast, and found out that the litter that Moxie's breeder had due any day was resorbed!!!!! He had xrayed and there were definitely pups, but noticed something funny going on a few days ago, took her in and xrayed to show nothing......

He was soo looking forward to this litter. He hasn't successfully had a litter born in over a year and a half! I think he had one born last summer, but only one puppy ended up surviving, only to die about a week later. Makes me appreciate how lucky I was with Moxie's litter.

Hope everyone's New Year has started out better than this.....

We found out today that my cousin will be discharged tomorrow, and he will be spending time with his mom and dad, away from his wife and 2 kids (his wife is in total denial that there was anything wrong

).....my Mom was talking to my uncle this morning, and it seems my cousin was very, very depressed....and it all started almost 8 years ago when my uncle was seriously injured and is now in a wheelchair. My cousin never really got over that accident...there's more to it than just that, but it's been building for a long, long time.....makes me sad to think my cousin has been in that much pain for that long

But I do hope he is able to get some help and get through this.

Oh...Kathryn......I'm hoping and praying that everything will turn out alright for your family and Moxie's breeder. The holidays can be sucha a time for troubles to be amplified....hopefully with time, everything will fall into place.
