So I have had 2 small canons with 12mp and 10xzoom. Plus a Fujipilm S5700 with 7.1mp and 10xzoom. I am looking to upgrade!!!

I am majorly into Photography, I love to shoot all sorts of pictures. I would like to spend under $350 as I am 17 and my only job is babysitting 3 days a week, so money is pretty thin but I am saving!

Now my question is...what would you guys recommend?

Hope I am "friends" with some of you guys on facebook so you can view them!

I really like my Nikon D40. If you look on my site many of the photos have been taken with that camera. If I recall, the body was around $400.00 and then I eventually upgraded to a better zoom lens.

Also, wanted to say that I remember the days when I was young, and babysat for extra money. It was not always fun but it made me a stronger person.

Don't be in a hurry to buy NOW. Save up and get a DSLR camera. I have a Canon Rebel XTi and I LOVE it!!!

Check out the lightning and cloud pix I took with it:

A good DSLR camera will last you the rest of your life.

Get a DSLR. I shoot Canon but Nikon is just as good. Invest in an entry level or mid level body, save, save, save and invest in the best glass (lenses) you can afford. An entry level body will for the most part shoot just as well as a pro body ( unless you shoot in extreme conditions or light) But cheap glass will never give you the results that GOOD glass will. You can always upgrade the body down the road and the glass can ( for the most part) be used camera to camera.

Also Camera retailers like Adorama and B&H sell used equipment. It was the only way I could afford my pro level body (Canon 1DMKII) at the time I bought it. I have also bought several pro level lenses used and never had an issue.
