I'm ready! We get about 40 kids here each year. YAY! Amy has her witch costume ready and she'll be with me on the front porch! That Redneck colt was going to greet the Trick or Treaters out front with candy dressed as a ghost and hand out candy with us, but we just heard its going to be storming and a terrible rainy windy night so now he'll have to stay in the barn and miss it. RATS! Well try again next year.

Dan put up 8 strands of orange and purple lights up on the porch and has them all lit up and ready.

Hus and I will order a pizza from Dominos, some wings and bread for us and I already have a bag of our favorite white cheese popcorn ready with tons of Pepsi's so I'll be good and wired. We always begin the night with our traditional Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. Then we'll have on Sci-Fi and see what's on or find some scary movies on TV. There will be plenty to pick from I'm sure.

Because the weather will be so nasty, that's a perfect setting for a fright night for us........

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

This is sooooooooo fun! The little bitty kids started coming early this afternoon. Poor baby Redneck colt was crying and needed back in the barn with his herd. So I got the idea to change it up and bring my steadfast reliable black stallion Nick out! I got dressed up in black with a big black coat and I was the headless horseman and all the kids are loving Nick and he is loving meeting them too. Just one more foot and his mane would be practically to the ground!

I had to put Nick back to feed but maybe he's up for round two tonite if the weather holds!

HAVE A GREAT ONE!

Marty,

Is your "trick or treat" tonight!? I think it is tomorrow in this area. It sure would be a nasty night for "trick or treat", there is a nasty, nasty wall of water heading straight for us.

It was GLORIOUS outside (and of course I was chained to my desk at work

) earlier today and then these ugly clouds came rolling in.

...white cheese popcorn sounds yummy! I haven't had any of that in ages.

Happy Halloween!

Have a great time! Wow! 40 kids? I thought you were on a mountian top alone!

Our county had Trick-or-treat last nite. It galls me how different places decide on what nite Halloween is. We live on a street with about 15 houses, and some 8 little kids. We do border an upscale neighborhoods tho. We had one(1) only 1 come for TrT. It's so disappointing to get candy, leave the light on, and decorate, and have NO ONE show up. When we first moved here we got about 20 or so, it has dwindled every year - now no one comes.
default_sad.png
I even wanted to take my minis TrT, but no one does that here!

Well, darn it- now I have to eat all the candy myself!

WOW Marty! Can I come over??? LOL. Taking my two gooblins out. We have to return to the old neighborhood where we moved from. No trick or treating back in here 1 mile back in the woods on 100 acres, lol. My oldest which is 7 is going to be a renisance( SP? ) princess and my 2 year old is going to be dorthy from the wizard of oz. Then when we get back home, I go through the candie

. Then watch horror movies all night. Starting with Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween. LOL. Heres a picture of my kids from last year.

Our 12 year old has been grounded, so she doesn't get to go to our annual "Harvest Party" in town.......Being so rural we don't have door to door trick-or-treaters........

Fortunately, Larry's boss at the Observatory has a side business: Theatrical/Stage Lighting and Sound and he's been hired to provide both for a haunted house! So, Larry is taking part in the setting up, taking down, and then being a scary personality DURING.
default_biggrin.png

This also means, Brianna is going to be a scary personality in the haunted house too...... She's not going to be hanging out with her friends or getting the candy like she planned, but that's okay.........She'll still probably have a good time and the haunted house is for a charity.

We are taking our 19 month old son to a couple houses for Trick or Treating, then watching some scary movies with some friends once Jake goes to bed. Probably get a pizza or Chris will make something.

We were going to go bar hopping after trick or treating but our baby sitter got sick and all our back ups are either sick or working, so no luck.
default_sad.png
. I was so looking forward to wearing my costume out to some of these contests. Oh well. There's always next year.

Then watch horror movies all night. Starting with Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween.
I loved his remake. Rob Zombie has made some great horror films. We have a friend that is into horror movies like I am into horses. He has everything that we could possibly want to watch. As cheesy as this sounds you should look for "Zombie Strippers". It was a great B movie that didn't take itself to seriously. Robert England and Jenna Jameson were in it. There isn't as much nudity as you would think from the title. We had a lot of laughs. I highly recommend.

I am the scrooge of Halloween I hate it with a passion. Never celebrate it- never let raven eat any candy and frankly it is a holiday I will never ever understand

We spend years telling our kids do not talk to strangers, never go to their houses -never ever take food or candy but.. one night a year throw it all out the window and go for it
default_wacko.png

Call me neurotic... but it just seems like a petifiles wonderland on Halloween

I won't be doing too much for Halloween...just another day here the past few years...

My sister is having an afternoon party, so that those with kids can get back home for trick or treating.

We've had my 3 nieces here (age 2, 5 & 7) since Tues, and their mom and dad come home tomorrow morning, so we'll be glad for the quiet to return!!!! LOL

We haven't had any kids come here in 2 years!!! I guess it is much better to head to town and get bags of candy....oh well, more treats for me to munch on (not that I need them!!!

I'm going to look at a kitten for Halloween (in the morning). I'm going to "look" at a calico Maine Coon. She is grey tabby with a few orange tabby patches, and white on her chest and feet... I know, it should be a black kitten for the particular day. Since I'm going "just to look", I am also taking a cat carrier with me.

Sort of a full circle thing. My first pet was a cat I got at 4yo because my parents thought it was too dangerous to trick or treat in our area, and that was my "treat" . They got me what we thought was a black female kitten I named Christina, but as Christina grew, we realized that she was a he. My parents broke the news to me and also explained he had to go to the doctors to be fixed. They thought I had to know he was a boy and asked what I thought that was under his tail... I told them I thought they were his "little decorations". They did, to me then, look like the silk Christmas balls we hung on our tree!!! Luckily, I am better at sexing baby horses than we were at sexing baby cats.

We will be home in the evening on Halloween. We never get trick or treaters, though. We bought candy several years in a row but stopped when we got no / nearly no trick or treaters out here. Plus, now with the flu going around... I don't want the chance of too many little kids maybe spreading the virus at my doorstep (can't really risk it personally now). I probably sound like a paranoid nut, but I am going through that hand sanitizer stuff like crazy and washing my hands all the time. I don't want that H1N1 or even a cold.

Not much going on here...we are not going to be home. Its a good thing we have no trick or treater or they would TP the house...for not being home. I was bad though...even if we never have trick or treaters I still manage to buy a bag of Reeses and a bag of Kit Kats.

I'm going to carve my big pumpkin and have it lit in my living room.

I'm going to watch my favorite movie:

Night of the Living Dead

And eat popcorn and peanut butter cups

I'll be busy all night getting out the last of the Secret Santa names while I watch movies.

In respost to Lisa's post, Halloween actually use to be the New Year of The Celtics, if I have that correct; and many of the traditions play into things they did years Ago.

I remember reading that the spooky end of halloween comes from the thought that on this night, ghost came alive and travel among the living. So the people of that time left what we call jack-o-latterns out to guide their way and treats at theirs doors as gifts. When settlers came to america from Europe, they brought this tradtion with them and it has evolved into the halloween we know today.

If you google the history, theres some good reading out there!

Im trick-or-treating then going to to a party with some friends!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!

Well I am miffed to say the least. We've been building up to Halloween for about a month. I carved a very elaborate pumpkin a couple weeks ago only to have a squirrel carry half its face off. We got a giant web to put over the front of the house, and I spider shopped for a very long time before deciding on a bunch of harry little boogers with glow-in-the-dark eyes, but it's been raining almost non-stop for the last two weeks, and I just know it would ruin my crawlies, so we never put them up. We'd been planning to go to Fright Fest at Six Flags tomorrow, but I woke up this morning feeling like someone had beaten me with a brick while I was sleeping--just doing tonight's chores left me coughing viciously. So I will probably buy an economy-sized bag of candy and mope in bed with it.
default_crybaby.gif
If I can be sure what I have is not contagious, I might let Mo drag me to a haunted house the next county over. The guy that owns it runs it year-round (while living in it), and while it's not scary it's definitely a hoot. Happy Halloween everybody!

I have always loved Halloween. Like Tiffany my birthday is the day after so that is probably why.
default_wink.png

This year though, I was just not feeling that Halloween spirit, but I changed that when a couple of weeks

ago, I bought corn stalks (I'm probably the only fool who would pay for dead corn stalks) and I also bought

pumpkins and I set up this cute display of a scarecrow, flowers, pumpkins and corn. Then, I ran to Kohls

and bought all these neat Halloween place mats and towels and put the old stuff out and I must say, we are

looking pretty festive. Unfortunately, I've never in 15 years of marriage ever had a single tricker-treater

show up. I buy candy every year and usually have it eaten before Halloween. What would I do if a real

live kid showed up? I guess I'd pass out money.

Deb and I are having steak for dinner (I "made" her get out and grill it and it is 56 deg. out...lol) then we are going to see "Paranormal Activity" tonight!
default_new_shocked.gif

We never used to get trick or treaters but then our neighbors moved in with 10 kids. One just went to college so we now get nine for sure every year!
default_laugh.png
One of the people in our little valley is a visual effects guy for Disney (just did G-Force) and he does up his house in a big way for Halloween. We're heading over there to check it out then will come home and eat leftover candy!
default_wink.png
Pizza sounds good along with some scary movies. Happy Halloween y'all!! Stay safe.

(Marty, I hope you post pictures of you as the headless horseman with your little horse. That sounds fun and your porch looks awesome.)
