We have been having a bad heat wave. Temps in town have been up to 100 degrees, humidity through the roof, and this weekend we are supposed to exceed that up to as much as 106. I get pretty sick in this kind of heat so

I am not happy about this.

I plan to cut my hours at work on Saturday so I can give extra time helping my horses through this. I'm really worried about them in this heat. I plan to get everyone on the wash rack for a good rinsing for some relief. I've been trying to do that daily anyhow. This should keep me soaked and from getting sick too.I bought a couple extra gallons of Gatorade to soak their beet pulp. Barn fans are in place and I already did fresh bedding. I got a giant thingy of Arm & Hammer baking soda which is what I love to scrub their water and feed buckets with so I'll be doing that too. Music from the Beach Boys CD's and we should be all good.

Going to be a hot one too, just hoping for no more Tornados for a while!!

It's a "cool" day today! 48% humidity and 103. One day was 70% humid and 113!

Well, planning to keep my baby colt in the roofed part of the barn under 2 fans in the day time and let out at night. Muffy likes to nap in the sun and it's too hot for the baby! Also I'll keep making Lady not fry her filly in the sun too. I gotta stay on top of these sun loving mares! OY!

I hope to get some new pics taken if I decide to turn blue in the face begging hubby to help me

Tomorrow Im going to a family reunion. It will be the first one since my grandfather passed away 17 years ago. Quite a bit of my family is coming from out of state, and there will be a lot of people I probably wont remember since I havent seen them since I was 5... Not sure how long we're going to stay, Colton is a month old tomorrow, and I still dont like keeping him out of the house all day.

BEACH DRIVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Long Beach, Washington.

I'm busy wrapping up work and trying to pack so that we can leave as soon as Keith gets home from work. So much still to do...

Any of you Oregon or Washington folks (or anyone up for a road trip), the details are on the Driving forum and we'd LOVE to have you join us in Long Beach.

With mom-sitting and other family obligations, I've not done a good job of getting the word out, so please don't anyone feel slighted if you haven't heard before now. We're flying by the seat of our pants!

Exciting weekend here... Trimming some horse feet, going out to lunch, studying, taking a nap, doing water changes in aquariums, and maybe some NetFlix movies. I hate to flaunt this wild lifestyle I keep but I guess there's no sense trying to hide it.

LOL Jill!

Sounds like my life too.

I spend a lot of my time trying to keep flowerbeds, shrubs and trees watered since it all still has to be done by hand. At least our (new) lawn has automatic sprinklers!

Feeding horses, cleaning stalls, taking the dogs out and bringing them back in, feeding them and LGDs and watching so that they eat it all and the magpies don't get what's left over. Weeding, weeding, and weeding some more. Cleaning waterers out at the barn and playing with the foals. Cooling off periodically in the air conditioning in the house. Gotta love it!

we're having almost the same miserably hot weather here...heat index well over 100 every day. i hose the mini boys off and by the time i get done with that, i am exhausted. i put a little plastic wading pool out for them yesterday and threw a few marshmallows into the water so they had some fun with that.

i'm hoping it's cool enough tomorrow morning to be able to get the dogs out for a short walk. i feel so sorry for them, they WANT to play but it's just too hot out to allow much running around. i've been letting them wrestle in the living room.

It's hot here too in Georgia. So I'm thinking Christmas...and working on a few presents by weaving scarves for the grandkids in the house with the a/c on. Got a couple of quilts to work on also...one is in the planning stage and one is almost ready to quilt...of course, they are both presents too. I really need to make one for me to keep!

It's not soo much the heat here as the HUMIDITY!!!! It is unbearable.....so I've been hiding in my workshop in the basement....feels like air conditioning down here!!!

So with that said, I am not doing much out of the ordinary....no riding...the horses don't even want to go outside...

And I'm like Charlene, trying to keep the dogs happy!!!!

I don't know what's worse, your 3 Danes in your living room, or 6 ankle biter corgis zooming around my house because it's just too much outside!!! LOL Once we hear Cash start winding up, we cling to the walls if we are walking anywhere and just get out of the way!
