I've checked EVERYWHERE and all i can find is size XXS, XS, S, M and sometimes i find a L and most the sites say the sizes run small

: and since a XL is considered plus size now a days

: . Or they just skip XL all together and go to 2x, 3x ext ext ext. Then i find something thats XL and its english riding clothes ext or a western pleasure outfit that is priced around the same as my car. I cant find anything you would show mini's in that isnt a size Small or something that isnt what you would wear for a halter/showmanship class.

I'm really starting to stress this now because im starting to run out of time. I have black pants and shoes that i think are exceptible.

I want to get a vest and slinky but cant find anything anywhere.

So where do you 'not size zero' ladies find your show clothes on the net or anywhere, that are exceptible for AMHA/AMHR?

Thanks

Just a thought...I just saw on the sales board that a woman has new and used show clothing in different sizes (larger than small) and has vests, shirts, etc. Maybe she can help you, or at least lead you in the direction of where she purchased her clothing. Hope this helps a little.

Department stores. Skip the tack store shopping altogehter! I've never bought anything other than gloves and hats in a tack store. Used clothing stores are great too.

I'm just spit balling here, but I see very LITTLE "horse show clothes" at registered mini shows, really including Nationals. Most clothes tend to run the department store/boutique line of clothing instead.

Hard to go wrong with black pants. Instead of the vest/slinky combo, which can chop you up (since most vests tend to end at waist level), I would go with a suit jacket/blazer blouse combo, or one of the many flattering knit twin sets (long sleeve light weight knit sweater with single button at collar w/ coordinating tank underneath). The latter can work double duty for both halter and driving classes, and can run the gamut from conservative to glitz, depending on your taste.

I have found a lot of "not size zero" clothes that are great for shows and for me at the office (the outfits do double duty) on eBay. I have found really nice designer brand suits for very little money in new condition, and use the jackets for shows.

And, forget size "0"... If ever I get into just plain single digits in clothes, I may have to wear them inside out just to show off the size tag!!!

leanna maybe we can shop when you come?? just bring money and ill fix ya up LOL

I got 2 real nice jackets at the second hand store. They were marked $10 but got them for $5. Some days they have 1/2 price days. :bgrin

One was white :new_shocked: but I figured if I get through one show it would be worth it. I find Jackets a lot easier at shows. Just put them on right before going into the ring. (saves you from the heat and each horse has a different Jacket, so the number is already on. )

But like the othes said. They don't have to be the western thing or the english thing. Just nice looking. Remember they are supose to be judging the horse not you.

I don't know... but...

Leeana, SPILL THE BEANS!!! Who the heck is Harley?! Don't we deserve an up date, pictures, SOMETHING??? Come on, tell, tell! :new_shocked: Oh and Congrats!

Hobby Horse has plus sizes and compared to other companies are fairly reasonable. I also found things on Ebay. Good luck!

Yep, sure thing Kay! You can give me some ideas of what to look for for mini and shetland classes, i know you have experience in both.

LOL i was going to wait untill i got my computer back so i can post pictures but he is the show colt i have been looking for (for what seems like forever). I got him from a lady in Ada who had 3 miniature mares and 2 studs, as well as a gelding. Well i was at Country Springs getting feed a few weeks back and seen a flyer up that had Miniature Foals for sale. I talked to her a while and got some info and background on her foals. They only show there gelding, the rest is mostly small breeding they do. But i told her what i was looking for something for halter now and a future country pleasure/obsticle driving maybe jumping (hunter) potential. So she started telling me about this buckaroo colt with Boones Little Buckaroo bloodlines. His sire was shown locally years back but now they mostly breed unless they show there gelding (who looked like Coco, exept more roan and no blue eyes).

Well he is sorrel and AMHR reg. only. He will mature over 34in so AMHA is out of the picture. He should mature around 35/36inches. He has a very dishy face, wonderful straight legs and his sire looked to be very refined. Both his dam and sire were gentle and i felt allot better being able to handle and see the sire/dam as well. He is very sweet but a hyper little baby . He thinks Coco is his daddy. Harley is 7 months old. They said he may roan a little bit and i still need to send in his papers. I've had him for about 9 days so i havnt started any halter show training yet because i want him to get use to the place. His manners are super for a young guy. He follows you around everywhere, which i dont mind one bit :bgrin.

If he picks up on the training fast enough i have looked at a possible show for him this year toward the end of the season. But i will not take him into the ring if he is not prepaired ...i already promised him and myself that one. I'd rather come out in the show ring 110% in 2007 rather then come out at 60% in 2006.

But yes, im excited to have my very own Buckaroo.

Pic's will come when the comp. gets back. Should be back sometime this week/weekend im guessing.
