I'm losing my mind, this mare is driving me round the bend!

The vet came out today and said she looks set to go any hour/day but then could also be a couple more weeks!!!! :new_shocked:

I have been watching her non-stop for 4 days now and for the last two days she has been doing this every 1/2 hour or so...

And today her udder looks like this..

Yes this is my first mare stare and, yes I am probably over reacting and being silly. But is this thing ever going to come out???!

What do you guys think?

No haven't been able to get any milk from her for the last week. A week ago I got a few drops but since then she just wont let me touch her long enough to get a squeeze in...

: ...is the colour on the inside of the vulva a reliable sign? Because in the last two hours its gone from pale pink to dark almost red....

Yes, some mares will do just as you describe as a foaling sign......It's called a "bloody show".

My girl last year was to the point of squirting milk as she walked and we had a baby boy within the hour !!

Welcome to the wonderful world of mare stare :bgrin

She looks like she is getting close to me, I would watch her closely now until she foals. Every mare we had would show different signs, you will get to know hers after her first foal or two. We had some that acted normal right up to the first contraction and others that would moan and groan weeks ahead of time LOL

One sign all of our mares shared though is once the milk starts dripping it was always within two hours that they foaled. Looking forward to seeing your foal soon

No waxing or dripping but this morning her udder is hard and hot.

Also her vulva is much more elongated than before, is still bright red...She set off the alarm about three times within the hour very late last night. Hasn't been doing that at night at all.

Good grief! She's just gotta go tonight. Many of my Minis dont wax up- I swear even the same mares are different every year!! And they get SNEAKIER with every foal I think!!
