My 2 minis are reminding me that fall/winter is right around the corner! They have begun shedding their summer coats and will be getting their winter fur soon!! Last year they both still had their baby coats along with their winter fluff, they looked like 2 baby bears! I did not put blankets on them because I think their natural winter coats are better! But this year I would like to have the option to put waterproof lightweight blankets/sheets on them. We can have some very cold rainy days here in Va. and even wet snow days. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can order this type of waterproof blanket?? I defiantly want ones that are durable and will last a couple of winters.

You can go to Ozark Mountain Tack and order them online. They are very helpful, wonderful people. My mini blankets came from there. Also, State Line Tack has some in stock now as well. Tractor Supply might carry them and if you have a local feed store that sells supplies, you can try talking to them to see if they'll order them for you. If you do decide to order, the charts on how to measure are posted on the various sites or you can call. Ozark Mountain Tack site is: http://www.minitack.com/

Horse.com and sstack.com sell the quality waterproof turnout blankets and sheets. I have bought many of my turnouts on ebay as well. You can get them for a good price there.

I highly recommend the Kensington blankets that Ozark Mtn has--I have the waterproof turnouts and they are breathable, waterproof and durable. There are now lighter weight ones available too. The Kensingtons fit great too.

Thank you for all your suggestions and advice!! I ordered my girls their blankets tonight! I did go with the Kensington blankets from Ozark Mtn. I actually went with the regular I think it was called Roustabout blanket. The new lighter weight ones were sold out and in the end it probably is better to have the winter weight just in case it gets really cold at night. I mainly wanted them for the waterproof and warm covering on those days they want to go out but we are having rain showers or wet snow. I got the Plum for Josie and the Royal Blue for Misty!!

Thanks again for your help, I appreciate that I can come here and get great advice!!!!

You will love the Roustabouts. I have them and think they are great. They are such high quality that they take a lot of abuse (rolling, playing, etc.). Definitely worth the money. I love your color choices too

Wow I was surprised to get an e-mail already today that said my blankets have already been picked up by FedEx and on their way!!

Now that is some fast service Ozark Mtn! Also ordered a lung line to start to use a little with Misty before the cold winter sets in. Ozark Mtn may have my future orders for my mini needs!!

They are the best as far as I'm concerned. Wonderful people and great items.

Having lived in NWet WA and Oregon... I tried many so called "waterproof" light blankets. Only one fit my mini's well and were really waterproof and won't shock your mini with static when you take it off.

Just for Ponies...

I have found some, Tuff One, waterproof blankets, they are a little heavier than the one above, but it is hit and miss with them. Some times they are waterproof and some times their not. And they will shock the tar out of your mini if you have dry snow days and you want to take it off.
