Wood or metal shafts

I have to purchase shafts for my cart to convert to single driving. Which is better wood or metal shafts? Are there advantages/disadvantages for either?

I think it's personal preference... and how the individual vehicle is made.

I prefer wood shafts and have changed out the metal shafts on 2 different carts for wooden ones.

metal are good for training especially green horses. If they freak out they cant break the shafts, they just bend a little and you can easily bend them back; wood they will break them and then will need to be replaced and depending on the cart that can be very expensive.
