It's that time of the year. Show season is upon us and the bathing/clipping must commence. Unfortunately, Mother Nature isn't always paying attention to this and gives us weather that is not conducive to such events. The last couple of years I've had to bath my girls in cold water, doing it at fast as I could, rubbing them dry and covering them up quickly...all the while apologizing to them for the torture.
I had got to thinking that there had to be a way for me to get some warm water for this process, if only to make the process a little less tortuous for my girls. The area where I bath them is right outside my basement door where the washer/dryer live. My husband put a Y spigot on the hot water for me a couple of years which allowed me to get hot water outside (in buckets). I started wondering if there wasn't something we could put on both the hot and cold water taps that would give me the ability to "mix" the two water sources in order to get a good temp.
And voila! There is: http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1272692 It's called a "Y Mixer Hose" made just for washing machine spigots. And I just realized that if I go back and get another Y spigot for the cold water, I won't have to take the lines running to the washer on and off each time I need to bath a horse.
I was really dreading doing this task this coming weekend, now I can't wait!
