Our mare foaled saturday night it was a red bag

she had some bloody discharge that stopped after about 2 hours

Now today she had nothing this morning turned her and the colt out and tonight she has more bloody discharge that happened sometime during the day today. Its dry on her legs but it was a decent amount.

We had the vet out yesterday to check them but she had stopped yesterday. vet checked the placenta and said she was fine. But I didn't ask if we should expect anymore. She is eating fine pooped & pee'd

wonder if you ever experienced bloody discharge 1-1/2 days later after a red bag

Usually it is ok for a mare to have a little bit of discharge a few days after foaling, even without being a red bag delivery.

Maybe give the vet a quick call if you are still concerned?

Congratulations on your colt! Did you posted any pictures yet?

From our experiences, a small amount of discharge can be expected within the first 24 hours following foaling. After that time, I usually suspect an infection is starting and get my mare flushed. This is per protocol of our vet.

Keep an eye on her and take her temp to see if it is elevated.

In my experience when the mare gets out and is active she will pass some discharge. We see this as a good thing.

In fact we encourage them to get out and move after foaling to help the uterus contract and get rid of anything that is still in them after they birth.
