What color do you think he is?

She does have buckeroo in there somewhere, but if my research is right it would come from her dad...mountain meadows sovereign. He's the one with the brown registered horses in his pedigree. Will the foal likely get more obviously silver as he ages if he is? I read the mane and tail get darker...

What color do you think he is?

After hours of research, I think you may be right. I'm going to spend the money and send some of my mare's hair in for genetic testing. I never would have guessed silver in a million years, but it seems possible anyway.

    Update!

He's very nice, you are going to have a blast showing him. I don't see anything to complain about in his conformation. I thought there was a process to hardship amhr, if they are shetland and small enough, but I don't see it on their website.

What color do you think he is?

That's funny, I kind of thought the same thing. But the registry likes something a bit more specific than that. 🤣 🤣 I'm thinking I may show him next year. And he has the most adorable attitude.

    Scaly hooves

I think they enjoy making me crazy. The minis in particular like to show me things I've never seen in my life. I'll try sanding a bit tonight and see what's under there.

What color do you think he is?

Last year's foal from this mare started out this color, and ended up here at a year and a half old. His points were just a very dark brown instead of black, but he looked more bayish to me.

What color do you think he is?

Hmmm....I could go for that, but daddy is black and I think mom is too dark to be silver. If I remember right he needs one parent to be silver, unless it can express minimally. I've got to edit this to say that now I'm reading that it's possible for sooty plus cream plus silver to do some odd...

    Scaly hooves

Hmmm, I never even though about fungus, I just assumed it had to be nutritional. I guess the vet will have to wait for when they come out for baby shots next month, I'm going to see what the farrier thinks in a week or so.

    Update!

He's very flashy, with a super dishy face, and it looks like he has a hooky neck and correct legs, so I would think he will do really well. I find it easier to judge with side on conformation pics, but don't think you will be disappointed when you show him. Which shetland class will you show him...

    New elderly pony

That's some coat! But he looks cute, and the pergolide should make a big difference for him. I'm so glad you could take him in!

What color do you think he is?

He does have about an inch of hair on him now, the entire head and lower legs are unclipped. Shed out from his baby color, but not clipped. Baby pics he looked like bay to me, but it didn't quite look right for bay either.

    Scaly hooves

I had noticed that my new mare's hooves were growing in junky looking. I was a little concerned about it, but I figured different care, plus I had to pull her off grain. I put her on a hoof supplement. But today I noticed my other mare is having the same issue. I've had her for years without...

What color do you think he is?

That's for sure! I'm used to guessing color patterns, not what color is this? Last years colt was confusing too. I would have thought brown, but now I'm reading that they have decided brown doesn't really exist, it's just a shade of bay.

What color do you think he is?

This boy's color is driving me nuts. He looked a grayish shade of bay when he was born. When I clipped him, I was sure he was going to be buckskin. Now I'm wondering if he might be a liver chestnut. Or is he just late getting dark points and mane and tail? What do you all think? Mom is...

    Toxic horse feed

From what I can see it was Livestock nutrition center, which is a huge company with 18 locations over 5 states. This is so horrible to read. I can't even imagine how the owners must feel.

    Skins issues....

That's very interesting, I wouldn't have thought about just trying to keep him cooler.

Miniature horse verses shetland pony question

Right, shetland is a breed, like AQHA or Arabian. Currently you need 2 registered Shetland parents to get a shetland pony. Put a shetland pony that's small enough can be registered as a miniature horse. That's a height registry like Pinto is a color registry. As long as you meet the requirements...

    Amha mini hours log program

I called the office with questions, several people couldn't answer any questions about it. After several calls I got referred to a volunteer who is supposed to be running the program, who I think may have quit because she didn't return any phone calls or emails. I love the idea of the program...

    Scratches

If they run out of things that can happen to them, they try real hard to find new things. I've only seen scratches cause by wet....but I live in an area where there is dew on the grass a lot of the year. It's hard to keep them dry.
