    National Drive

I enjoyed the weather, the equines, and the new friends. I am currently uploading a TON of photos that my husband took. I will post a link when all are loaded. I am already making plans for next year's ND!

So who is going? National Drive

I'll be there with my pair, Sundance Kid (chocolate silver dapple) and Butch Cassidy (black pinto). I don't have my stall assignment yet, but in previous years they have stabled many of the minis in the same row. We always get a room at the Microtel in Georgetown, nice and close to KHP and, more...

    I GOT MY NEW HARNESS

You are much nicer than me! I would have sent that back right away! Kinda makes you wonder if they know anything about driving if they thought that would work....

    National Drive

Everyone I have met at the National Drive has been fabulous!! People offer to let you drive their horse, test drive their carriage with your horse, take a ride with them, etc. All the vendors are very knowledgable and will test fit your horse or let you try-it-before-you-buy-it. I have seen mini...

    National Drive

Cattle panels, eye bolts, double ended snaps... I will be bringing both my boys, but they share a stall at home, so no need to divide one. The object of the National Drive organizers is to provide us with many things to do, but they state that you can do as much or as little as you want. It...

    My Billie is Driving!!

Darci- VERY NICE!! Everything looks like it fits your little guy very well. That makes it much easier for him to do his job.I would not guess that he is a "greenie". He looks very happy to be working with you. I would like to know where you got your harness, please. Peggy

Doing my homework Driving Mare, Gelding or Stallion

I LOVE my geldings!! I heartily recommend an experienced driving horse for a new driver. I have a friend near Lexington KY that has several minis for sale. She mostly is looking for good homes for her entire herd. If I could afford upkeep on another horse, I would definitely take her one...

    Easy entry/easy exit cart

I have an Itebte cart made by Mike Groose (no longer making carts) that has a great idea for making a secure seat for one in the center of the large seat. It basically is two curved armrests joined at the back by a flat bar. The bar is attached to the seat back supports with two wingnuts and the...

How to Make a Miniature Pony Harness

Now don't we all feel stupid for spending hundreds of $$$ on a harness when we could have sewn one ourselves? I especially want one out of satin....it would just be so pretty!! I am off to fire up the old sewing machine! (Tongue firmly in cheek)

Progress report - training for CDE

It sounds as if you are making real progress; congratulations! In watching your video, I noticed that you have the same style cart as I do (mine is from A Silver Penney Farm). My cart originally had the singletree mounted on top of the shafts; I recently moved it underneath the "circle bar" and...

ADS Webinar - Intro to Combined Driving

That little tidbit about cones was a surprise to me also. Of course, I always seem to look AT one cone, and you know what he said about that! I loved his comment about turnout points (I am still wearing my bright pink hat!) versus a good walk; but if I don't goof it up, my little Butch Cassidy...

    Anyone know where Wardance is?

Not sure if this site is current, but I found him here: http://www.olympianranch.com/main.html

    FINALLY

Those little curved pieces are the ends of the rein rail. The traces attach to the singletreee, which is just barely visible at the very bottom of the second photo. This photo from the Bennington website shows the singletree quite clearly about 6 inches below the shaft attachment.

My new Aerocrown, plus collar and hames

The collar does appear to fit Flirty very well. My good collar opens at the top with a clasp, which is very important when your horse has a very wide forehead like my Butch Cassidy. I presume from your description that yours does not open. The best way to put that type of collar on is to hold it...

    Whats the difference???

The first time I saw minis driving was at an AMHR show years ago. When they did the extended trot those little front legs looked like egg beaters whirling around!! NO extension at all!! That was why I chose to not drive AMHR, and compete ADS.

    New Pair Pictures

Al- THANK YOU!!!! I can't tell you how many times I have been to driving pairs and not seen the pairs + photos designation (only looked at the top banner pages, I guess!) There are some really helpful photos there!! The rein ring is visible in several photos, and I can definitely see the...

    Turnout Critique

I am a gelding fan(atic!). All my horses are geldings. My two minis have fabulous work ethics, and our OTTB is an exercise freak. He's just getting warmed up after an hour. Our barn owner loves her mares. She did comment, however, that there was a change in her girls' attitudes after my boys...
