    Secretariat

We thought they did a decent job of matching his stride - enough that we commented to each other - "hey, that's pretty close!" Only complaint I had with any of the realism was that "Secretariat" was born a bay (in the movie!) Oh, that and the fact that all the leather halters were *new*.

    A Rule Proposal I just don't understand

by this definition, a breeder who sells horses couldn't show (horses are "goods") and even myself, as a "Mini mare midwife" couldn't show, as I provide "services" by helping mares have their foals (and if that makes me a vendor, does it make the pregnant mares "vending machines"?)

    Pet Peeves

I get that a lot with my (Arabian stallion) Khemosabi++++// son - people ask how he's bred, I say "He's by Khemosabi" - they say "Grandson? Or Great grandson?"... I say "he's BY Khemo, he's a SON"... *argh*

    Whining about my hands...

Surgery date set for Sept 16! I think after all this time that the only option is surgery. I'm excited! I'll be all healed by foaling season, at least enough to go up inside the mares and help out!

    Whining about my hands...

I get tired of my own pain and problems - tired of thinking about them and I feel like its all I have to talk about sometimes. I was just on a website about fibromyalgia the other day and one of the things it said that you should do is keep talking about it, even if you're tired of it yourself...

    BioPryn Pregnancy Blood Test

I haven't used them, but am planning to try it this season - probably in January or so. At $25.00/per when I can pull blood myself, it's a good deal if it works - and less invasive than US/Palpation. We pasture bred all our mares this year, so we just have a "range" of breeding/foaling dates...

Does this mean I have a paint?

ah, so the white mane is because he's silver... no clues about his "pinto-ness" from the full body shots!

Does this mean I have a paint?

Is his mane white? Let's see the whole horse! Minis are often minimally marked even if they carry the tobiano pinto gene. (or sabino, splash, frame...)

    Watched the Western Regional AMHA

Generally the only time halter horses go to the rail is after the announcement is made that they are "excused to the rail" to wait for results. I watched the end of one driving class on the webcast where two ladies were in animated conversation during the line up - so animated that they were...

    start of my stagecoach team!

a friend bought those and is fairly happy with them, except the reins will need to be redone longer and the (painted) leather will be hard to match. My next harness(es) will have freedom collars, buckle in traces, saddle trees (at the least gullet space!) and I hope to find a set that can be...

    start of my stagecoach team!

I posted a picture of my matched team horses! Abbie and Dash are ready to start in harness now, and we recently bought a used itebte 4 wheeled cut under cart to use - have to get a team pole made and wooden wheels for carriage events, but we've already driven Appy in it and it pulls like a dream!

    start of my stagecoach team!

I was taking registry pictures and put this together... my stagecoach team is coming together! R to L (all sired by Appy) - Abbie, Marvin, Dash

X-ray of dog's litter was way off the mark

Our Anatolian was part of a litter of 10!

    Question for Appaloosa Breeders

Me too - DRK What's the Buzz is a snowcap pintoloosa, with Tobiano, splash, sabino! He's been out with a blanket mare, a leopard, 2 solids and a pintoloosa... if I don't get color from those crosses I'll choke! <grin> Appy (blanket) is out with a blanket, 2 leopards (1 with tobiano, I think)...

    Actual color versus Genetic color

a horse's ACTUAL color *IS* it's genetic color! Period! Nothing else it can be! As has been said before, even a "visual" color can change radically from natural coat to bodyclipped coat - also from season to season, or from year to year (greys and appys, particularly!) Not only that, but...

    Dirty Little Biscuit

I fostered a litter of kittens starting about 10 days old - they got a bath in Dawn first thing to get rid of the fleas trying to suck the life out of them.... I've still got 3 of them here at 11 or 12 weeks old, waiting for them all to get to 2 pounds (one just has an ounce or two to go) so the...

    Registered name ideas?

some good ideas... I guess Dazey will be "Appy Daze"... Still thinking on Pansy - and still waiting on Alice!

    Registered name ideas?

It's pronounced "I been"... as in "I been spotted!" (I didn't name him, and he's not my horse!)

    Registered name ideas?

I'm usually quick on names - but this year I just haven't been all that inspired! Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated! Two fillies (so far....) both have barn names, I need to come up with registered names! Both will start with "KpM Honeypony" - or "Honeypony" - depending on the...

    Studding out a Stallion

At the risk of being called an old hag... A yearling is not "too young" to show heat - I've had several fillies show at 8 or 9 months old! Only one of your mares is breeding quality, though - right? Didn't I read somewhere that you said one of your mares is a minimal dwarf? Make double...
