    The fuzziest Mini

Here's our longest beard (in SoCal, yet!) Violet even beat a gypsy horse in a "hairiest horse" class!

Neverending Saga: Dude, where's my fall decorations?

Marty, honey - if you get sick of him, I'll trade you! Mine'll hook you up with a wireless network, barn cams streaming on the web and fix all your computers... Meanwhile, Mr. Retirement could help me get the popcorn off my ceilings, fix the front door that doesn't open all the way and solve...

I can't wait to see this......

When I drive Appy, the most common correction I get from instructors or judges is that I need to stop looking at my horse! I always say, "but I LOVE looking at that butt!"

    My "spotless" Appy filly

I had an Arab colt who started to get ephisitis when he was 3 months old.... I was really confused, we were feeding grass hay and grass/alfalfa pellets, no grain, no creep feeder, and his mother didn't share her feed well... my vet came to see him several times over a week or two and finally...

    My "spotless" Appy filly

That's a quote from my vet - I was complaining that my pretty filly's neck had gotten all yuckky - she said in TB's they call it "foal neck" - a combination of the nursing position and a mare that "milks like a cow", and that I should know by now that it gets better after weaning. I said - but...

How many driving horses do we have here now?

I've got 1 seasoned, 1 who is hitched, 1 green, and about 4 or 5 in various stages of "pre-hitching" training (bitting rig, long lines, etc)

    My "spotless" Appy filly

This is "KpM Honeypony Appsolutely Surprising" (aka "Prize")- she's a silver black snowcap filly out of our "Lotadot Prissy Britches" and by "Woodstock North's Who's Appy Now"... she looks as if she'll stay AMHA sized and I LOVE her tailset, pretty head and movement... now if I can get her less...

    Best Cat litter

We have 5 cats, a small house, and ONE big litter box. After doing several side-by side trials, the 3 things that work best for us are: Swheat Scoop cat litter (multi cat), Odor-No-More cat litter additive, and a spray called "Zero" something. (can't find the old bottle, haven't bought a new...

    Road Work--How Far?

I have a 3-mile loop I use (trails along all the streets here in Norco, CA) - about 1/2 mile is a long uphill climb. We trot most of the way, and work up to trotting up the hill. I had a show trainer tell me that that was "too far" - but then I wonder if it's too far to drive a relaxed horse...

    Mini Horse Service Animals

I hadn't thought of it that way, precisely, but in my 8th grade "yearbook" I did write that I wanted to raise and train horses for a living!

    Mini Horse Service Animals

Not to open up any really old cans of worms here - but I was called by an Associated press reporter for my input into the following story. I tried REALLY hard to get across what I believe the difficulties are in using horses this way, and to the reporter's credit, it seems like she tried to do...

    Business Cards??

I had an Arabian farm (who was standing their own Khemo son) steal a photo of MY guy and use it in their yellow Pages ad in the phone book! Guess they figured that since they weren't in my area that I'd never know. I had a lawyer write them a cease and desist letter, and eventually the ad was...

    Equipage or not?

I agree with everything you've said, Becky! I have ours also hooked up so that it'll call my cell phone, and if I'm running errands, I can bring up our barncams and see what's up. false alarms are better than losing a foal or mare. It seems that if a mare breaks her halter, the transmitter...

Our own first mini foal this year!

thanks! He has a special 'tude, that's for sure! Knows he's wonderful, and loves people! And I just posted another thread about his new half-sister!

    Another new baby for ME!

Prissy had a PRIZE for us last night! I was all wonked out from major oral surgery yesterday... at least she waited to go into labor until well after I was home and in my PJ's! I've been waiting 3 years to get a foal out of this mare - this filly was worth the wait! She's a silver dapple...

Our own first mini foal this year!

Our maiden mare Katie (Dominico's Tender Obsession) just had a textbook delivery for her first foal, and she LOVES him! She's being wonderful and polite about people, but doesn't want neighbor horses even LOOKING at him! His daddy is Woodstock North's Who's Appy Now, but little boy hasn't got...

    Barncam changes!

Yay! She did it! A very lovely little silver black colt! No signs of appaloosa, but he's gonna be something special! Dad's a halter HOF, mom is just 6 points away from hers! It was a tight squeeze getting him out - but she's taking to mommy-hood like a duck to water!

    Barncam changes!

Katie has sticky dried milk all over the inside of her hind legs - the baby has dropped and her patootie is pinking up.... she set off the pager/phone *66* times last night...

If you could have one big horse...

MOST you can tell at birth or by weaning... but there are exceptions! Cal Poly had a mare who they thought was bay until she was bodyshaved the spring of her 7 year old year... she was fully grey a couple years later. There is a DNA test for grey now if you want to know for sure!

    He can work, too!
