    Rule Books

I don't think it is because the judges 'don't know' the rule. I wouldn't argue with your conclusion.

    Stiff Hindend?

I would guess it is conformational. His hind leg(s)appear too straight('post-legged'), and he also appears shallow/weak through the stifle...both would likely contribute to restricted/poor movement, in my opinion. I believe you are correct in your thinking that he probably wouldn't be a good...

Judge accused me of drawing dorsal stripe

I agree completely with Suzanne; hard to fathom why anyone would defend such boorishness on any basis...and I DID show, a good bit and successfully. NO organization ultimately benefits from the 'services' of such an unprofessional individual, and such actions should NOT be tolerated...weed them...

    Teething

It actually is NOT UNCOMMON for minis to retain caps and have other issues with tooth growth. I'd strongly recommend having the vet give your horse a thorough tooth exam. I had a tiny mare who was showing 'tooth bumps' in both lower AND upper profile at around age two. Judicious attention to the...

How much land do I really need?

"They"aren't making any more land, as they say...I'd definitely go with more over less!! More of a 'buffer' against others building too close, more moving-around room for your horses...all kinds of benefits! A couple of acres should be a piece of cake to care for, esp. if the horses can graze it...

Anyone been watching certain other new 'mini-series' made for TV?

I found that AMC will be showing ALL episodes of "Breaking Bad" starting this coming Wed. and finishing w/ the Final Episode, which is next Sun. evening. It is not quite a 'marathon', but close. I went through and set to record EVERY episode, and look forward to being able to sit down and watch...

DIY No wood stalls can it be done?

There ARE welded steel 'rod' panels available with 2"X 1" openings;in about the dimensions of the cattle/hog panels (52" dx 16', I think?)...I have SEEN them, though it's been awhile. Am sure they are pricey, but would have the advantage of offering good ventilation, with the security of no...

    Stall kept or run-in shelters?

I pretty much agree with Marty; but I do also utilize a large, deep(16')south-facing run-in shed for my mule, who spent her previous life at pasture, and isn't 'into' small living spaces! Most winter wind here is out of the NW, most of the 'worst' storms come from the east, so protection is...

    Seriously ?!?!?!?!?

Well-put, Reignmaker....I agree, but didn't state the case nearly as well as you have!! Margo

What is with the snakes this year???

This is the time of year that the rattlers seem the most 'irritable' to me, and therefore, the most dangerous if encountered unexpectedly. I've not seen any so far this year, but have found two long shed snakeskin's, very close together, pretty close to my house. Awhile back, before we began to...

Anyone been watching certain other new 'mini-series' made for TV?

The thread on "Under the Dome" prompted me to ask who may be/have been, watching such mini series as: "Falling Skies" --I like it a lot, because I like certain kinds of sci-fi, and think this is pretty well-scripted and acted: "The Bridge" on FX--very adult and sometimes gory...but I look...

    Seriously ?!?!?!?!?

Well, I tend to forget the plot of any book unless it was VERY compelling and I LOVED it(as with "the Stand", which is my favorite from S King that was also made into a mini series)...so I am not really able to compare 'Dome' the series w/ 'Dome' the book, but must say, it is not my 'favorite'...

    I HATE Crows!!!

Here, there are flocks of crows that fly out from the city for the day to feed in the grain fields east of us, then return home late in the day, at some times of the year...but the 'permanent' area residents are ravens, and some of them are HUGE! They aren't exactly solitary, but tend to hang...

    Seriously ?!?!?!?!?

I believe I read that the show had been renewed for another 'season'...who knows exactly what that means nowadays? That would explain the odd 'ending'....I read the book, but don't recall how it resolved, so have no clue where they will go w/ the plot from here!!

    Building my own cart

The most basic EEs, such as the original Frontier, and the CTM, have only a coil spring under each end of the seat, and that is MINIMAL for any comfort to the ride.As far as I can tell from photos, the Hyperbike, which many love( and I like, but don't find suitable for my own use), has no...

    WCMHR

True about registration into PtHA...though it took FOREVER, I did finally get the papers on a 'grade' B-sized miniature gelding I bought to drive...who is a minimally-marked Pinto. He has no other papers...nor did he need any to be accepted into Pinto. Have to agree about oversized kids riding...

    Wood versus metal wheels

Well-made metal wheels probably will last better than either of the others. Other things being equal(width of tread, overall weight of wheel, proper hub/bearing construction--which I admit I don't know much about, only to be sure of good quality...), the metal should ride about as wooden; we all...

    I can't believe they're gone........

What a horrific event! Prayers going up for your friend...and honor to the memory of her beloved horses.... Margo

Beet Pulp = Pellets vs Shreds

I bought shreds only once...hated them, as did a couple of my horses! When soaked, they produced numerous large, leathery pieces, that were next to impossible for a couple of mine to masticate....horses who have regular tooth work, BTW. i couldn't blame them; it would have been like trying to...

    Upcoming show

Attractive turnout, Marsha! Sounds like you enjoyed the experience...which is what it really should be all about! What kind of breast collar is that? Is it the new Camptown one, or one from Chimacum Tack, or some other maker? Do you like it? I got a new riding mule, so haven't been here in a...
