    Driving Discussion 2024

Billy and I went out today. I had to ground drive first a little but he settled quickly and I was able to mount the sulky. We went 2 miles. Several noisy vehicles passed us and he did fine. He transitioned well. We went about 45 minutes. We may have been able to go a little longer but I...

    Driving Discussion 2024

Mother Nature had almost reclaimed you. Silly horses showing off for the cart! My neighbor's horses do that too. As though they had never seen it before.

    2024 crafter's delight - whatcha working on?

The dark and light almost looks like a ribbon around the edge. Very pretty!

    2024 crafter's delight - whatcha working on?

I did a table at our recent Women's Friendship Dinner. My theme was Harvest Moon. I made slow-stitch cards for the four guests as favors. I'm glad I did an autumn theme as most of the other tables were Christmas or winter. Centerpiece is challenging as there is limited space. I sat at a...

    Walking/Hiking with your minis 2024

Billy, Pepper and I have walked several miles in the last month. I've really been working on his hooves. They are looking much better. He needs his boots, as the rough gravel roads are now affecting his shortened toes on our walks.

    Do solid tires last?

My sister has solid wheels on her cart. They would probably outlast you. I have tires with heavy duty tubes with slime. The only thing that happens with them is if I let the air get low the valve stem will fail. I've run over mesquite thorns and punctured the tire/tube. Pull out the thorn...

    How's the Weather ?

More rain! The ponds are filling! Definitely rubber boot weather. Checked the trap today. There haven't been packrats for a few days so I thought it was over. Today there was a drowned one. It wasn't in the water, so not sure how he drowned. Has your horse ever looked "like a drowned rat"...

    Billy

Fine and frisky, though he is not happy about all the rain we've been getting lately. We are very happy about the rain, though, as the ponds are filling and the trees will get a good drink before freezing.

    Billy

Well, I've been worrying over Billy's feet for several months. I got another farrier to trim him, and he nipped that long toe back severely. Now we've had rain and his sole is soft so my sister came out to work on Billy. Most of the frogs just peeled away and she was able to get a lot of sole...

    2024 crafter's delight - whatcha working on?

I found a white dot on dot on etsy. It will be here in the mail before I can drive to a store. Risky to buy fabric online as the monitor colors could be different.

    Moving On

I sold the last pieces of Dapper Dan's tack yesterday--driving bridle and open bridle. Oh my, I was sad to see that driving bridle go. But all his things went to up-and-coming young drivers so it is good for them to have use. It's been over a year and a half, so it's time to let go. My...

    2024 crafter's delight - whatcha working on?

I was thinking of going around the images. I have to find some white fabric before I can finish it. No stores with fabric near me. The Walmart stopped carrying a fabric section. I am thinking a white on white fabric for the sashing.

    2024 crafter's delight - whatcha working on?

I was thinking red also, but scared of coordinating the red. I tried white and I think it looks best, with the yellow for binding. This is not my "thing" so it's difficult for me. And how would I quilt the blocks? Just leave them? Arrrggh!

    2024 crafter's delight - whatcha working on?

I finished embroidering all the little nurser rhymes and got them worked into a top. I need to put a border around and am having troubling finding something. I have a sweet blue flannel for the back with bunnies on it.

    Trail Camera

The birdbath and camera are very close to the front door. Maybe 20 feet? It is at the beginning of the buffer wild area and base of the mountain. Cannot see it from the windows well. But sitting on the porch is front row seating.

    How's the Weather ?

At last! A lovely 3+ inches of rain. Straight down with no wind. Hopefully Billy's hooves will now be soft enough to work on the excess sole! He is a dirty, muddy boy today.
