Billy posing by the antique horse drawn planter. To give an idea of size, I can step over this fence.

    2024 crafter's delight - whatcha working on?

I found this American Girl doll at the thrift store. Couldn't leave her. She had a few marks on her face and arms but really clean. Her hair was a mess, of course. I made her a dress and underwear and put her hair in a french braid--not sure what doll she is so I don't know how the hair was...

    Trail Camera

Haven't had the trail camera up for several weeks. Laziness. But something is working havoc in the flower pots and beds--eating the buds and actually digging up whole plants. At first we thought it was deer, and part of the damage could be from them. But the hole digging had to be a...

    The Funnies!

    Thought this was funny.

    Gardening

A cactus in the wheelbarrow is beginning to bloom. The varmints keep digging things up and eating off the bloom ends of the succulents. Found this fun metal leaf at the thrift store yesterday. I think it will be nice for bees and lizards to drink.

    Driving Discussion 2024

Love the photos. And really enjoyed the part about your friend being nervous if her pony sped up, but you two pushed him. Such confidence bred confidence! I feel for your friend, however; once a person gets scared, it isn't easy to recover. I do the same thing with Billy--when I feel as...

    2024 Hours Driven

Too hard to change out that bit! But might be worth it to see if it is a better fit. I'm pleased with the butterfly arch.

    2024 crafter's delight - whatcha working on?

The stag is about 8" tall, not counting antler. Isn't this a great pattern? From Stacy Meade. I have another deer pattern, but this design is more elegant. It's really hard to do the twig legs. I bring whole branches in to harvest 8 twigs.

This is how I usually do the pattern. but the ultrasuede just seemed rather elegant.

Need Guidance - Minis got into Chick Starter (non-medicated)

My goodness, how scary. Definitely didnt sound right to withhold water, especially in the summer. There are some safety issues with bute you might research on this forum. Little rascals! We got some aquarium tubing to keep on hand for rattlesnake emergency. Not sure if that is helpful.

    2024 crafter's delight - whatcha working on?

I was tidying up my fabric stash and found a piece of ultrasuede. I decided to make some deer. I usually do the pattern with muslin, then stain and paint the deer. But I left this ultrasude plain. Elm twig legs and antlers.

    2024 Hours Driven

50 minutes driving Billy today. We went 2.18 miles. Mostly walking--as the doctor ordered. He seemed to be fine with no discomfort. We often see game sign on our drives. Today we saw some good-sized snake trails.

    Billy

I know! He looks like a crusader horse. Or something from scifi maybe! He loved all the attention. And even the dental work was calm.

    Billy

Took Billy for his teeth today, and asked the vet to advise me whether Billy should be driving. His teeth were great, just a few points. But... At first when he saw Billy move he thought there was no lameness issue. Then after Billy had trotted up and down and around a few times, he put the...

    Gardening

A difficulty of living in a pasture is defining the wild area and the tame area. In lieu of fencing, a buffer area works best. This side gets mowed, that side is "managed". The sunflowers form part of the buffer area.

    Gardening

Sunflowers opening. I hate going out in the morning and discovering the damage the deer do. I put some more pinwheels in the pots, hoping this will deter them. They seem to work. The plants the deer seem to like best are my begonias. That "path" is actually where the french drain is. We...

Lovely photos! The bay with four white stockings caught my eye.

    How's the Weather ?

We haven't had it too bad here in sw Oklahoma so far. Over 100 a few times, but that is pretty normal. The humidity seems really high now, which makes it uncomfortable to be outdoors, even when the temperature isn't that bad. Harvest is over here. Bumper crop this year! I think a bushel of...
