    Pack rats

Hopefully the last one. It was the smallest so far. I have a call in to the Dept of Wildlife; the specialist is looking into the packrat species. I want to know where they are coming from and why so many. She has had no other calls about packrats, so we'll see if she comes up with anything...

    How's the Weather ?

It dropped 50 degrees yesterday. From 93 down to 39. Billy is happy about his fur this morning.

    Triple Crown Safe Starch Forage

I plan to weigh Billy this week. His girth was about the same when we drove, so I don't have high hopes of a weight loss to report.

    2024 Hours Driven

Billy went 2.76 miles today. 44 minutes. I saw on the sulky odometer that we've driven 30 miles in the last 12 months.

Some more pretty bird pictures. The new camera catches so many in flight. It's interesting to see their wings all spread out.

Blue is such a good boy. You had him for sale for a while. Did you decide he's a keeper instead? So fun and your surroundings look amazing.

    2024 crafter's delight - whatcha working on?

Picked up a set of embroidery patterns at the thrift store. 12 nursery rhymes. Two were completed. Nice lap project for me, and a quilt at the end.

    Pack rats

#10 yesterday. He was in a drawer in a little cupboard I keep on the porch for my garden tools. He had harvested roses, lantana blossoms, elm branches and some mysterious thread (eek) in the drawer. Just overnight. What a busy guy! This one got away--for now. We set the trap for him but...

Anything I should know about using wormer in minis?

Wow, lots of questions! Rotating products is always a good idea. The products keep very well for a long time in the house. They have a shelf life beyond their "expiration date". They only parasite I've had trouble eradicating is pin worms. They are the very devil. The others seems to...

    Walking/Hiking with your minis 2024

Jeffrey!! He is doing amazingly. Billy, Pepper and I walked 45 minutes today; 2 miles. For the second time since I've had him, Billy nipped me on the arm on the way home. He was feeling frisky, tossing his head and dancing around. I brought him back to a controlled walk and he nipped me. I...

I'm surprised those two critters are not native to your area. I thought they were everywhere, except the Poles. We caught #9 today.

    Pack rats

We have trapped 8 so far in the garden. I've stopped giving treats to the chicken. I've raked a wheel barrow load of trash out from under the chicken house, where I'm sure they were/are nesting. They are rather attractive and do not carry any disease, so I was told by the Dept of Ag, but they...

    Weaning time

Did you see the post about someone who put a mirror in with a newly weaned foal, so he could see another horse?

It's a busy spot right now. Chicken, horse, and dog visit also. The birds enjoy the sunflower stalks. In some of the pictures you can see a bird clinging to a stalk, waiting a turn.
