    Clippers (again!) Oster users?

Thanks for the advice everyone! I told my husband I was going to ask a few people what they thought. These are in like-new condition according to the seller, only used twice but sat for a year or so. And they're practically giving them away, so I think at least for the detail work they would be...

    Clippers (again!) Oster users?

I know there are a lot of posts, but I was wondering who uses Oster? I have an opportunity to buy used twice Oster Golden A5. I know nothing about clippers for body clipping. I would be doing 2-3 horses only a couple times a year. I've be researching all brands and my head is spinning! I know...

    Dimensions

We're looking at doing something similar, and what we've seen is 22" wide x 48" long. To me, that seems a little tiny, but we're going to mock up some "stalls" in the barn and go from there. It's hard to picture, I'm a visual person.

How do you hook up your mini when alone?

Yesterday I hooked up for the first time alone, yet supervised. (Different horse than featured in my "whoa!" post!) I made sure he would whoa & stand before even attempting this. Then I harnessed him, led him over to where the cart is (storage issues won't allow the cart to go to him at the...

Is any one else really tired of this weather?

It was 70 yesterday... 70!!!! Slight breeze, birds a singing away. I took my guy for a short drive, he's out of shape and still wearing his winter coat, but I couldn't take it anymore!! 50 with 20-25mph winds today, colder over the weekend with snow on Monday. I'm SICK of it! I hate to say it...

    Sidepass Trouble

You need to work with him more on the left. I believe (my opinion) that you should be able to do everything equally well from both sides. What I would do is start at the bottom, using whatever method you use, and get him used to you being on the other side. Start with leading. Once he does...

Not just a "fun" post. *Update What business, breeder/farm/trainer would you recommend?

I am brand spanking new to the mini world but am LOVING this conversation! It's allowing me to start "meeting" everyone. Jill- to add controversy & drama, you could have a newbie coming up and watching their struggles? Watching their relationships with a mentor & such...

Pics 2nd Post - Spring Tooth Harrow - IT WORKS!!

Looks awesome! I love reading all of your posts and the work you do with your ponies! I would love to be able to do something similar, maybe in the next few years (also have to add, I LOVE the name 'Kreature')

    "Whoa!"

He is a smarty pants, I do know that he's just communicating that something isn't right. When he starts doing his jig, it's after we have been going and stop. He stands pretty darn still (maybe moves head and neck) when I get in. I really like the idea of "whoa" and "stand" as they should be two...

    Clipping-When

There's a good point Marsha, hot when we drive. I want to start driving more and conditioning, but with the weather it's driving me crazy! Last week it was 76 on Monday, snow & freezing rain Tuesday, then back to 60's the rest of the week. Would anyone recommend trace clips now? I don't have...

Calling all Obstacle in Hand persons. Really need help

Agree with the other posts, short practices. Make sure they understand whoa. I use 2 leads, leave a heavier one down & use a lighter one (even a piece of twine) so if they try to move away I can make them get right back where they need to be. It's amazing how quickly they learn to stay put...

    "Whoa!"

I don't use breeching, not sure if he was ever driven with in, I'm emailing to find out, it's quite possible the additional pressure to the saddle isn't helping. Yesterday (after warming up) I got in and he stood still for a few seconds, then started his jiggy thing. I waited until he stood...

    "Whoa!"

Reignmaker, I think I maintain that contact, but I'll be more conscious of it tonight & see how that goes. Great suggestion! I really think he's testing me as he is a dream for the gal who trained him. Of course, they have that relationship already as well, and she has the experience. He's such...

    "Whoa!"

Sorry, I should have added that I did. And that he was an angel. I think it was the added weight and the excitement of going for a drive? I actually have had my 7 year old daughter hold the shafts and tell me when it's too heavy when I shift my body position. Poor kid about dropped me a couple...

    "Whoa!"

My 4 (almost 5) year old gelding, was driven extensively the last year, at shows, around town, in an arena, down the road etc. This is part of what helped make the decision to bring him home. We bought his harness & cart along with him as well. Because of this "lovely" weather we've been having...

    New mini owner!! Help!!!

Welcome! I'm still a newbie as well, and you will find a lot of great information by searching the threads. I get totally lost reading everything and have learned soooo much! I keep 3 in a paddock about the same size, but they don't have any grazing. We have to make sure to exercise because they...
