    Gangway Northwest........Here comes Winter!

I also admit, my kids probably dont "need" their blankets, but I feel better when they are wearing them. They enjoyed getting them off for awhile today and being able to roll and run, but they didn't put up any kind of fuss when I put them back on tonight. Chip and Sandi poked their noses right...

    A Northwest Winter

We HAD sunshine. It just disappeared and the snow is coming down lightly again. Perfect timing as I JUST brought everyone in. Thanks for the compliments on Keeleigh (pronounced Key-Lee). SHE is a Rottweiler/Golden Retriever cross, three years old come March. I've had her since she was 9 weeks...

    A Northwest Winter

We've got about 8 inches of snow out there right now. Maybe more. The temps were a tad warmer this morning, so I decided to pull blankets and let their skin breathe for awhile today. Snapped a few pictures before I went to clean stalls. My rescued mare, Sienna, refused to come out of the barn...

How many animals sleep in your bed at night?

I have a full/queen size bed. Forunately I only sleep with my 65lbs Rottweiler/Golden Retriever.

    Gangway Northwest........Here comes Winter!

I also have heated water buckets, that I just plugged in two days ago. They are the 16 gallon ones that are better for outside, but I put them in the corner of each of the stalls (since the kids are inside alot right now with the temps being SOOO low) and ran the cord under the gate so that the...

    Lumps all over

Unforunately, yes he does break out at home as well. Hes outside 24/7, so nothing buy dirt or grass to lay on. The fly repellent doesn't help anymore. Haven't bathed him recently, so couldn't be anything I used there. I dont ever clip him, so nope, nothing there either. I haven't done anything...

    Lumps all over

Thats the thing Marty, I have checked into everything. It started while he was at my friends boarding stable. He'd been there off and on for the last 6 years. Always used cedar shavings, cleaned on a regular basis. He started breaking out while he was on Nutrena Safechoice. I switched to Triple...

    Lumps all over

I had the same problem. My stallion started breaking out this year and I'm not sure what caused it. Ended up giving him a series of three Dexamethosone shots, which cleared it up right away...Until a week later when he broke out again. Now he's on Dex powder. I'm giving it too him for three...

A call out to anyone with a young dwarf mini

Please dont take this the wrong way... The majority of you here agree that if a horse (mare or stallion) produces a dwarf that it should not be bred again, is that correct? Or at least consider them "high risk" and are careful who you breed them to next time so as not to produce another dwarf...

    AMHA/AMHR Pedigree look up

I dont have a registation number on him. All I know is his name was Just Little Jack (possibly Just Lil Jack) and he was a red pinto stallion. No idea how big, foaling date, nothing.

    Allergic Reaction to Flies?????

One of my horses is having a bizzare breakout of lumps, mainly on his neck. I first noticed this about a month ago. I immediately started applying a "calming gel" to it (I can't remember the brand name off hand), along with Fly Block fly spray. The lumps decreased in size and disappeared after a...

AMHA pedigree and offspring look up, please :)

I used to own "Indy"s dam, Kobecks Indian Squaw. Helen Halderman is the breeder of Indy. He was always my favorite of Squaws foals. A very handsome palomino. When I saw that Vintage Farm was selling him, I would have snatched him up but I am not looking for another stallion right now.

    Jackpot Farms.

In AMHA "JPF" does stand for JackPot Farms. My stallions sire is JPF Jimmy Dolittle. Shortpig (Marie) owns "Jimmy" and I'm sure would love to answer any questions you might have. Erin

    Registration name

I'm liking some of those! Keep them coming though, still waiting on that perfect one! Funny you should ask what color...I haven't the faintest idea. His sire is a silver bay pinto (who comes from a liver chestnut pinto and a solid black) and his dam is a solid buckskin (who comes from a solid...

    Putting Weight On Horses

The mare is 9 years old and is 35" tall. The butter tub is the normal 1lbs. I will start to increase her grain intake tomorrow, along with a few more adjustments. Hopefully it will work.

    Putting Weight On Horses

Hey all, Okay heres the deal. My mare Sandi foaled almost two months ago. She was in awesome shape until about three weeks after Rebel was born. She isn't deathly skinny, but way thinner than I would ever like her to be. Her belly looks good, but you can feel (not see!!!) her ribs VERY easily...
