Am I the only one who has lost my nerve?

No haven't lost your nerve. I haven't ridden in about 5 years. I sold my racking appy about then and since then have had a spinal fusion, have osteoarthritis and now found out I have RA too in addition to all my back problems. I did get on a steddy eddie horse of a friend a couple months ago...

Need help in figuring out this problem....

Marty that is funny you mentioned that because I have been "neglecting him" (according to him I am sure) in the past few weeks other than the usual turnout, feeding, brushing everyday duties. We went for a walk last night after it cooled down a bit and I thought that would make him feel better...

Lots of good suggestions. He gets TCLite pellets, Safe Starch Hay (Triple Crown chopped hay) night time feed, when he is outside gets the same as evening feed but I add some straight baled hay (1/4) flake Timothy/Orchard mixed. He has a mineral lick outside and one inside his stall. He has a...

Need help in figuring out this problem....

He gets a timothy/orchard mix hay (excellent quality $11.99 bail), a low starch grain, Aniflex-GL for joints. Access to a mineral block, wormed on schedule. He is by himself as we only have one horse. Can see and "talk" with other horses that are about 15 ft away from his turnout area. He is...

    Anyone good at reading X-rays?

No experience in x-rays here, but if he is what you are looking for go for it! If you are able to afford him and all the necessary upkeep for a horse with arthritis (?) what should keep you from providing him with a great home? For only walk & trot and trailride, should be fine. My neighbor...

    Rheumitoid Arthritis

Thanks everyone. I am seeing a rheumatologist Nurse Practitioner that is affiliated with the doctor. I haven't seen him yet (have to wonder why, guess I am not a serious case yet) I had a blood test and that came back positive for RA. The NP said I definately have osteoarthritis but may...

Think Before You Post - Three words that get used too much

Great thread. That is the problem with the internet. Things come across as rude, not nice, misconstrued when poeple type what sounds good in their head doesn't look so good when typed out. It is a public place and if you ask a question everyone will give their two cents worth.

    Black or Russet??

Black would be better with a black cart. One a resale value, I think the black would be easier to sell too.

    Rheumitoid Arthritis

what symptoms do you have? What helps you deal with the flare-ups. I was diagnosed with RA about a month ago. Along with osteoarthritis in my back/spine. I have the RA in my feet and hands. I am on planquenil for the inflammation but that takes 3 months + to really show any improvement. I...

How far do you go on a daily drive?

I got about 2 miles for the quick trip. When he is fit and weather is cooler we got about 3.5 max. I let him set his own pace when we are just driving around. He knows when to trot, canter (his favorite thing) on the straight aways and when he sees a cone.

Question about alternative types of forage

I feed the bagged hay and and pellets. Though I only have one mini, it is ecomonical for me (sorta $19.50 50# bag) but horse is kind of tubby right now and is on a dry lot. The hay lasts about a month and the grain almost 2 months. I also feed the Safe Starch hay and Triple Crown lite from...
