    Diego's first bath

Kind of pic heavy, I just couldn't decide which ones to post! My daughter and I gave Diego his first bath today. He was a champ as he is with everything. He and his sister (my profile pic) have the most amazing personalities. He's still in a rough clip from earlier this year, but I trimmed his...

    Two First 2010 Foals

gorgeous babies! Lots of leg! I am also a huge Arenosa fan. I have a 2 yr old mare and a yearling gelding both out of AClassic Touch of Amoratado. I love the refined arab look of them and both of mine are extremely athletic.

    Bay or bay dun?

There is some debate now on if its a dilution or a modifier like agouti, since it adds the primitive markings. A bay dun would have points that are lighter than black, but could be dark enough to be mistaken. And dun always adds primitive markings. http://www.dungenes.org/4_basic_dun_colors.htm...

What I found under the fur

Thanks everyone. Im really very attached to him. He has amazing conformation. My youngest daughter is using him in 4H this year, as her mare is older and has a foal on her. I had wanted to register him so we could participate in the gelding incentive fund, but he's at 38 inches right now as a...

    4H Mini Horse Games/Activities

Tonight was our first weekly horse clinic. I think it went pretty well. We started on basics like leading and backing and finding out which kids had the bossy disrespectful horses etc. We did some follow the leader and some other exercises I came up with. But then I ran out of things and we...

What I found under the fur

Love the new forums, haven't been here in awhile! I wanted to share some pics of my boy. For the longest time I just didn't know what color he was going to be. I had figured silver dapple but wasn't sure. I finally got to clip him the other day and I was beside myself! wow! He's just gorgeous...

Sharing our foal born in October

She's beautiful! We had the exact same thing happen to use, except that we didn't have any complications. My daughters mare surprised us on Oct 15th, the day after yours was born. My little girl is also a bundle of fur, though I haven't clipped her, so you can't even see her ears there is so...

    Color Question Perlino vs Cremello

Your right Two base coats colors. Red and Black (red would also be chestnut) Agouti is the bay modifier. Agouti on Red has no affect, Agouti on Black creates bay Cream is a dilute. 1 Cream on red creates a palamino. 1 Cream on black creates a smokey black. 1 Cream on bay would create a...

    Horse Friendly Landscaping/Plants

I have cabin fever and am wanting to start planning my outdoor handy work early. I live in town (its a small town, less than 500 people, unincorporated etc) and my minis are kept here at home. I have two pens, with two horses in each, on either side of my house, plus I've converted our 1 car...

    Color Question Perlino vs Cremello

There are two types of blue eyes as well though. A 'paint" colored blue and the double cream blue. The paint blue is very bright, solid color and the cream blue can have spots of darker blue in them, and can even be green or amber colored. One of the most strikingly beautiful horses I have seen...

    Color Question Perlino vs Cremello

Cremello is double cream genes on a red based coat and they will have blue eyes and a white mane and tail. The coat is very light in color and may appear to be white, but is not. Its like a double palomino. Perlino however is double cream genes on a bay based coat, like a double buckskin...

    driving questions

I am looking to step into the world of driving soon. a few random thing I'm curious about: What makes a good driving horse? What makes them win in the show ring? I hear people talk about moving out well, and I understand moving out in big horse terms, but what does that mean for driving minis...

Rope Halters just a thought about them

Just my two cents (please note, I haven't read the entire thread)... I got the same email from horse city as well and this is what I think. First of all, that was kind of a ridiculous article. The same kind of issues happen with ANY kind of halter when they aren't used properly, be they rope...
