    Stifle Surgery

I know several horses that have had the stifle surgery and gone on to be fine driving horses. Unless there is another reason you vet says that he can't be a driving horse this shouldn't slow him down any. Karen

Your route/my route or Pick your route class

The idea behind it is basically the same as a standard cones class however the route is different. In a normal cones class at and ADS type show, you can't canter, you have to have your whip in hand etc. You have to go the correct/posted route, then you go back through it your way whatever way...

I'm so excited...I just can't hardly stand it!

if Cde's are your future, you want to reconsider wire spoke wheels. Few venues allow them and of those that do most only allow them on VSE's 39" at the withers and under and training level only. If you plan to move up the levels you will need steel or wood wheels. reread and noticed you...

    Anyone have this happen?

I had this happen to me in February of this year. Mare was Huge in october, saw foal movement the whole thing, at 330 days she was noticeably smaller in the belly, udder would go up and down up and down so I took her and had her checked there was no baby in there. Now I had some family stuff...

    Unpredictable runaway - need advice.

not necessarily a more severe bit but a different one like a mullen mouth or a french link might help. I wouldn't pull back with both reins at the same time, bump each rein. When you pull with both reins at the same time they have something to brace against and just pull harder. keep contact...

    Permectrin for Delicing

After purchasing an extremely thin horse last year, upon arrival at home we noticed lice and in a large amount. Upon a discussion with the vet we treated with ivermectin and bathed the horse in Adams Flea Shampoo 2 treatments and it was all gone. Karen

    I found my new home!!!

I sent the earlier message from my phone, as my internet wasn't working. I grew up in Florida, from 1984 to 2006 so I wasn't just a short trip part time person in Florida, I've seen what looks like high and dry and is for a long time become a swamp with a lot of rain, that is where I was coming...

    team cart

Adding a cart connector doenst make into a proper or properly balanced 4wheel vehicle in fact it probably makes the balance worse. Two wheeled carts are not designed to be used for a pair they aren't wide enough nor heavy enough for a pair just because they are minis downed change these factors...

Good luck on your move I would ask if there are any pictures or what happens when heavy rains occur I k.ow that there hasn't been a lot of rain down there lately and some properties look great until you get a whole lot of rain then you have a swamp. I got burned on a property down there that...

    HELP NEEDED PLEASE

I knew a dwarf with a small tiny hole for a cleft palate, lived for 18 months before losing her to unrelated colic she got cast in the stall and twisted her gut. Ate food normally, hay, grass etc. There was always green (grass and alfalfa) stuff in her nose but was constantly watched for signs...

    Cooling down clipper blades

my blades don't seem to dull as fast when clipping wet vs clipping dry. I also get a better clip. To each their own, what works for some don't work for others. I can't clip worth a doodle on a dry white/pinto horse it looks like a weed whacker clipped them but when wet they come out nice and...

    training a horse to drive

personally for me it depends on the horse. I don't include grooming/harnessing time as "training" time, unless thats the point the horse is at. Work begins when the horse is hitched not standing there taking a nap while I brush the dirt off. It all depends on the horse and what that horse...

    Foaling Monitor System

We got a set of 4 cams and the gizmo to connect it to the tv at costco a couple of years ago for 150, still works great and is wireless. Not much interferes with it, it doesn't go bonkers when the microwave is on. I also have a wired system in another barn and it works great with recycled ATM...

    Showmanship / Halter question

Get some people together or go a small local show even if big horses are there and enter the showmanship class just for an experience thing, and when she starts to wiggle, back her up a step or two or ten and then remind her to stand.Sure you blow the class, but the horse learns that she can't...

    Carriage and Driving Society Show

At the carolina carriage club pleasure show, if there are enough entries, and there usually are we split out the VSEs, Ponies and horses in the working pleasure classes. That way we don't have the different sizes, if you don't have the entries though its hard to do, but for 3 or more we split...
