    We have a resident HAWK

We noticed a young redtail hawk a few weeks ago, was spending quite a bit of time around our barn & pastures. Well, it has gotten to the point where he is here on a daily basis, and is usually seen hopping around on the ground in the yard where the grove of trees are. Couldn't figure out why...

    This one had me stumped

I posted the results on my initial post. But here they are as well. Moonglow tested negative for SILVER and negative for LWO.   So.....She can only be Black Sabino. I wish you could see this girl in person. Her hair is GRAY with white hairs mixed in....not BLACK mixed with white. I never...

    This one had me stumped

My second foal this year was a very pretty little filly. When "Moonglow" was born, I thought black with blaze & socks. But, then upon her drying....I'm thinking, she's much too light....she looks Silver Dapple (Silver Black) Her sire is our Bay Frame Overo, and her dam is our Chestnut...

    Coat Color

I agree with those who said "Bay Pinto". You can usually tell even the darkest bay colors from black by looking at the hairs around the muzzle. If they are any shade of bay/brown, that is a bay horse, even if the body looks black. He is definitely a cutie!

I braved my first show in Midland, MI

Your boys both look VERY handsome! Would love to see that video of Elliott in the Liberty class....bet he was awesome! Sounds like you had a lot of fun....and that's what's important!

    3wk colt on pasterns???

Hi Christie, I agree with Bill.....your little guy is a dwarf. What I noticed about him (besides the legs & underbite) is that he is very "thick" barreled & broad chested, which is very common with Dwarfs. He would benefit greatly with "Magic Shoes", and the information that Bill has given...

Frame overos (LWO) and there eyes

NO connection between LWO (Frame) horses and blindness! I've been breeding them for many years & have never had a blind horse. Also, the deafness "thought" to be connected with some Splash horses, I think was actually traced to certain bloodlines who just happened to be Splash. At least, this...

    Hey!!! THAT'S not my dinner!!!!

Great shot! And VERRRRRY PRETTY kitty! I love the extreme markings on her!

    Newest Rescue

I agree with Tobiano and Sabino as color "Patterns" for sure. Likely also carrying Splash and/or Frame (LWO) as either of those will cause blue eyes. Color is Silver Bay. Very pretty boy!

    Moonglow and Sheza Doll

I have FINALLY gotten good "body clipped" photos of my two 2010 fillies! Don't even have these girls on my website yet....gotta get ahold of Mona now. This is "Kickapoo's Apache Sheza Doll".....foaled in March at 18", is now 4 months old & still only 23.5"! Sheza is a Black Bay & we expect...

    Blue Eyes anyone?

Thank you ALL for your very kind remarks. I have a lot of respect for you all. There are so many wonderful breeders here on LB, and your comments mean a lot to me.

    Blue Eyes anyone?

YES....I did! And he is veeeeerrryy nice! Isn't is funny how two wildly marked parents can have a solid, or very minimally marked foal. LOL All my babies this year were either solids, or minimally marked, out of very wild patterned Overos & Toveros. You just can't predict what you are...

    Blue Eyes anyone?

I have a mare that I bred, back on lease from my good friend Elaine Rosier. "Kickapoo's Foxy Fax Emily" is a daughter of "Hemlock Brooks Cock Robin" (the guy who started it all for me). She is ALSO his g-grandaughter, as her dam is "Kickapoo's Desert Dream", a daughter of "Kickapoo's...

Coyotes, anyone have problems with them & their Minis?

I agree. We have lots of Coyotes around here too....but we also have an abundance of "prey" for them (rodents, rabbits, deer, wild cats, etc.) I believe they are pretty well fed, and it would take some who are starving to want to take on bigger prey such as Minis. I have two Pyrenees to...

Mare not letting stallion breed again,

Sometimes they just have short heat cycles, or sometimes they just don't "show" that they are in heat enough to notice. And yes, I've had some do the same thing....breed them one time & then they are OUT. They had foals the following year from that one breeding.

    calling all colour experts

Most probably a combination of Silver Black and Appy. She is definitely Silver Black, and Appy roaning, or snowflaking can cause the "variations" on her front that you are seeing.

    New foal fainting

I've had a "fainter" before as well, and it's just as people say, they outgrow it soon. I DID have a filly this year that really gave me a scare tho. She didn't just faint when "stressed" by being restrained or something. She actually slept that way too! I found her limp in the stall during...
