    Trick Training

Oh there are lots! My stallion is trick trained, and he gives kisses and hugs(mini style), shakes hands, smiles, shakes his head yes and no, line dances, and plays soccer. I didn't teach the rear because i didn't want any bad habits started either.

    Blue Eyes and Color genetics

The Champagne foals I've had here, have had obvious light blue eyes, not the darker looking blues. When I read your post that she had blue eyes, I thought the light blue, sorry my mistake.

    Blue Eyes and Color genetics

Yep, with one champagne parent there is a 50/50 chance, as with any gene (dilution or not), that the gene got passed on. All I meant was that IF there was a proven champagne parent, that the possibility was there. AND for a champagne to be a champagne, they HAVE to be born with blue eyes, that...

    Blue Eyes and Color genetics

More than likely, if she had blue eyes at birth that went to an amber brownish (esp if one of her parents was a champagne), she's a champagne. It's a Champagne trait. All have to be born with blue eyes, that as they age, change to amber or green. only time they wouldn't do that to my...

News from the color testing lab

Me too, I've got one mare that I know isn't half of the color or pattern panel, but I'd like to know on the other half of both! LOL

News from the color testing lab

It's 95 for the color panel, and 95 for the pattern panel. Good deal, considering at least with the color deal you'd spend a bit more to cover all of them. I don't know about the different kinds of Splash though,

    Eye infection? Opinions/treatment

oh yeah I 100% agree on same usage and such, it's all the same thing. Just different strengths. The Pink eye spray is 50% stronger than the wound spray. Eye wash, and eye gel is the same strength as the wound spray. Or that is what a company rep emailed me, when I'd emailed and asked. I've...

    Eye infection? Opinions/treatment

What the company told me about the Vetericyn, is all different kinds are the same stuff, just different strengths.

    Is it safe to bathe?

No wind here really to speak of so it was nice. But I hear ya on the sinus stuff. My allergies have been raging for about 2 weeks. Good old W Texas spring. LOL

    Eye infection? Opinions/treatment

I think because someone mentioned using the IM penicillin and squirting it in the eye, they picked up on the IM part and thought, it meant giving a shot?? Or that what I would of thought where it came from. Some don't realize you can do other stuff with it, besides IM inject it.

    Eye infection? Opinions/treatment

It's honestly a wonder drug and one, I'd say to keep on hand before others. Works great on cuts, scrapes, anything really. I can say it's been used quite a few times on our horses, both big and small, and a few places I figured we'd of at the least had the hair grow back white, and it didn't.

    Is it safe to bathe?

lol you could of done it today! It got really warm up to 90. I also give mine the momma clips as I call them, and clip part of the belly and around the bag and stuff. Esp this time of the year, when they all are shedding.

    Is it safe to bathe?

I don't see why it would hurt her. I'd wait till we had one of the warm warm days. Of course I think we got up to 80 here today, int he mnts. LOL

    Eye infection? Opinions/treatment

Not a vet, but I have a triple dilute mare that is notorious for having infected eyes in our dry climate, only when it's windy and dusty in the winter time, but still. Anyways. I keep a tube or two of the terramycin on hand, and as soon as I see her starting to get gooped up, I'll start dr'ing...

    AMHR Temporary Papers question

nope, you'd just have to bring her permanent. It'd be a bit higher, than if she was done at 3 like she should of been.

    Seriously ? Miniature bareback broncs????

lol Amanda, didn't mean to even remotely start a war or debate on rodeo or bronc riding at all, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. So I'll let it go at that.

    Seriously ? Miniature bareback broncs????

Umm ok I didn't see a link, but was this by any chance in TX in the panhandle? If so I know the one you're talking about. And lets just say a good friend picks up at that one for the big horses and has said himself, that it's the stupidest, most irresponsible thing they could do. Do I know...

    Hoof cleaning cooperation

He's probably still figuring you guys out, if you have just had him for 3 days. The key is to pick a foot up and hold it for a bit, (ideally before they start to fight) then let it go, Try to so this in short sessions, 5 seconds, then when he's ok with that 10 seconds, etc. You are doing right...

Round pen owners BEWARE!!!! Injured horse~~

Wow how scarey! Only suggestions I can offer, is to cover the pins with something top and bottom, to prevent them from peircing themselves with them (it can happen even to the biggies). As far as the spaceing. You could dig the ground a bit to make it sit a bit leveler, or wire the part that...

Zimectrin Gold no more for me

In the case I saw, I don't know if they'd used it before or not. She just said that her horses swelled up horrible from it, and a few were at the vets getting IV fluids becuase they coudln't eat or drink. I don't think I want to try it and find out though either. LOL
