ONLINE SHOW EXTENDED ONE MORE DAY HURRY UP!

One question, if mailing the funds, do I need to wait until you receive them before posting a pic?? I don't use PayPal and I know last year's fundraising didn't want to include donations until the money was received. Having a hard time picking which ones to enter. Have pics of my broken legged...

Other things to do with miniature horses

DJF, you have it figured out! If you haven't already done so, please friends me on Facebook (Mary Elizabeth Wilson) as I would love to see what you have and share with Melly's human. LOL Pleasantly surprised by the responses here. LaVern told me that she also knows folks who use minis to pull...

Other things to do with miniature horses

Thanks everybody, I love hearing the feedback. Becky, you had me in stitches with your description of your hubby and his hunting partner. Similar to conversations around here. I think they need to get those "hay burners" ready for next year, LOL. Sue, I think he will be getting a regular saddle...

Other things to do with miniature horses

A good friend of ours took his 5 year old mare with him hunting for elk in the Rockies recently and had a great experience with her. We sold him Melly a few years ago, and she has been in his pocket ever since. Jim describes her as the "dog he has always wanted" LOL. Anyway, he worked with her...

    Should I

I am not in your region but I do appreciate how seriously you have taken your role. I really want to compliment you on how much you communicate with the rest of us; you monitor this forum and respond promptly with an intelligent, reasoned response. You are direct without being insulting, and you...

Winter Woolies - should they grow back THAT fast?

We have been able to judge the severity of our upcoming winter by how early our minis (and other animals) get their heavy coats. We live in MN and never blanket horses unless they were shaved for a show and have not grown out yet. Last year--which was a fairly mild winter for us--it took awhile...

Does My Mini Look Like She Could Be Show Quality?

Good advice here from many people about her age and doing age appropriate things. We let our babies be babies and the first year really focus on haltering, leading, etc. Glad to see you are getting involved in 4H. Minnesota just started a 4H miniature horse program a couple of years ago and I...

    It's already been 5 months!

They look great! Even with the fuzzies, you can see some hip bones and dull coats. They look great now and appear to have won the lottery when it comes to a great home and happy life. Good for you!!!!

    AMHA Hardship Closing

I could swear I saw a Judges Clinic video over the past two years with--I think--Amber Montgomery saying something to the effect the pony characteristics and standard was the desirable one for the AMHR. That was my impression while watching it but again that was some time ago and my memory is...

Is 1st or 2nd cut hay better for mini's?

We prefer 3rd cutting on our hay which is an orchard, timothy, alfalfa, some prairie grass mix but will use the 2nd cutting for the horses. Just seems to be less stemmy and fluffier and even in Feb, after several weeks of very cold, bitter Minnesota winter weather, will still be green and fresh...

What does a Chocolate Palamino look like?

Agree with Mona and Diane. Before we understood the color thing, we described our stud as chocolate palamino but DNA testing confirmed he is smokey silver black (heterozygous for Cream, silver and black). The cool thing is his babies are like a rainbow, everything from (very white) palamino...

Well, it happened...Robin is pregnant. Need a little assistance from the pros.

What does your sister in law think? I would guess Batman because this doesn't look like a mare that has another 4 months to go, but I AM NOT A VET. Just my opinion. I would think your vet would be able to help you understand whether this baby could get born in the next month versus late...

    AMHR National Late Entries

I so agree with you. It drives me nuts that this organization--and AMHA for that matter--is still so paper-based, with the exception of the website and the on-line tracking of show records. And, with the show qualification forms, they just added more paper. A good RDBMS, a forms and workflow...
