Any one here trim their own horses hooves?

I had watched farriers work on my horses for years, so I finally just decided to bite the bullet and try it myself. My uncle trims all of their Miniatures, so he showed me once how to do it. I haven't been able to find any small hoof nippers, so all I have right now is a rasp and a knife. Oh...

Very nervous now. I cam home to find that my filly

If I had checked everything over real well, by that point I would also be thinking someone had been messing around there. I'd keep an eye out for sure, and consider locking my gates. Did you notice any strange tracks? Were gates latched differently? Any different tire tracks around the...

How do you keep track of your horses records?

I use a combination of three ring binders and a calendar. The binders keep all of my papers etc., on the calendar I keep track of hoof trims, deworming, all that routine stuff. Then at the end of the year I go through the calendar and type up a sheet for each horse. On the sheet I include all...

    Can I Share?

RockRiverTiff- That would be my aunt's big Quarter Horse, Skipper. He pouts when he doesn't get attention. midnight- nothing wrong with her hip, she's just got "lovehandles" **ahem** As you can see she is in the dry lot, so I expect she'll lose a little more of the flab.

    Big Time Beginner Question......

I put in some crossties about a week ago, and it sure has made bath time much easier. Also, make sure you are on a non-skid surface of some kind. I bought some of those treadmill mats and put all around my crossties, they work great! Got 'em at walmart for about $19, comes in 2x2 pieces, hooked...

    I am FURIOUS

I'd also like to know what their reason was for doing this... I would be one hacked off mama, that is for sure. I'm one of those who hates not being able to do it myself. I am not gone much and when I am usually it is a family member that takes care of the animals. I know they will take care of...

What Kind of hay do you feed your minis?

I voted straight grass hay. Currently I am feeding good quality bermuda. To date I have never fed alfalfa to any horse that I've owned. Never needed to. A few times I have got a grass/clover mix because that's all that was available. But I prefer grass hay only.

    Fencing Question....

T posts are just those steel fence posts you see everywhere, they are usually green. If you look, the way they are made it forms a "T".
