What do you think? 2yr old halter gelding...

I think he is a nice looking gelding. I would work on sweating his neck. Get a jowl and neck wrap. And just get him in condition. Overall he is in nice weight and nice looking. You should have fun showing him.

    Height discrepancy on purchased horse

You are not alone! It has happened to many of us. Through the years I have learned to ask "Will this horse measure at 34" if taken to a show". Or "Is this a true 34" horse?" I have found the best thing to do is stay away from 34" advertised horses because of this. I have even bought a 33.5"...

    Do you show your miniatures?

I use to show. It has been a few years since I have shown, but my goal is to start back up next year. So: 1. Yes 2. 46

    flaxseed

I feed whole flax seed. Mainly because it does help in preventing sand colic. But it also is good for the coat, skin and more. I have noticed a difference in my horses skin and coats even with the whole seed and it is great for sand. So I use it whole.

Well, it happened...Robin is pregnant. Need a little assistance from the pros.

I would not worry about getting the milk out right now. Most of my maiden mares, I couldn't get milk from them until the day of or a couple of days before. I think you will get some out when she is REAL close. Just keep trying so she gets use to being touched there. Good luck!

What does a Chocolate Palamino look like?

Chocolate palomino is a shade of palomino with a sooty modifier. I have seen chocolate palomino in big horses but have not seen one in minis yet. It seems minis carry more of the silver modifier. And they seem to have more smokey blacks and silver blacks than in the big horses. A chocolate...

I agree Batman. I think you only have about 2 weeks to go. Good luck and will be looking for pictures!

    Heeves

I don't believe heaves is hereditary, but have not done much research on this. It really sounds like this mare is having an allergic reaction, and it is affects her breathing. Unless she shows signs of it at different times like the seasonal changes, after a good hard run or play with other...

    ,Electric fence ???Tape or wire?

Well I have had 1.5" tape for years and have no complaint. I used it for 10 years in MI. It was well shaded and protected from the wind and sun and never had to replace it. Now in GA I have had it for 5 years and it is out in the full sun and wind and still does it's job. It probably won't last...

How did you get started with minis?

Got my first pony when I was 5. From there it was all down hill. LOL First horse when I was 8 and have had many many more after that. Arabs, QH, Paints, Standbred and 4 adopted wild mustangs. Gave riding lessons, broke horses and helped run a 4-H club doing most of the workout lessons to get...

    Bio Sponge

Do you have a salt block that she can get to? If so she might be over doing it and licking to much. I have a mare that has had two colts for me and they both seemed to LIKE the salt block way to much. It gave them the runs. I have learned now to put it where the mares can get it but it is hard...

    Random Diarrhea

It could very well be the mineral salt block. I have foals that will lick it so much that it give them the runs. I have seen some adult horses do the same. Maybe if you switched to a white salt block it would help. I would take the salt block away for a day or two and see if there is any...

    Underbite questions

I would say with what they have produced so far would be enough. At least it would be for me. Full sister, one had two foals with bad bites and the other had one normal (so far) and one with a bad bite. That is a very good indication that these mares care the gene. I am not saying these foals...

    Gelded stud bad attitude

Well I have gelded older stallions and have never seen this happen. So I find this very interesting. I just wonder if maybe they are proud cut and to much of the tube was left in so that still gives them stallion tendences. I have seen proud cut gelding come more agressive. So maybe this is...
