    Milk Test Help!!!

Where are you getting your distilled water from? Could that be the source of your problem?

Had to share story of brave boy and his horse

Just curious, does the horse ride the school bus? I could see them using one with a wheelchair lift to give access to the bus, or does Mom drive him to school and does Zoe ride in the car or a horse trailer?

Mud and Manure Balls in coat

@Tango Mango - ok mine is no where near that bad, you sure did have a project. Perhaps I will give the babyoil/mineral oil thing a go.

Anyone else heard of Redmond Rocks??

I have seen them at the local feed store but haven't tried them. Perhaps I will give them a try. I notice that you can get them in all different sizes and I think we have a price per pound on them.

Mud and Manure Balls in coat

Thanks for the ideas! They are pretty entwined in the hair, they are certainly dry and hard. It was 17 degrees this morning and now at noon has just made 33 so guess they will be staying there for a while. He is starting to shed so hopefully they will come out with the shedding process at...

Which injection sites do you use for your minis?

I had a vet use the chest only once, caused a horse that would usually stand well for shots to rear up. I guess a "sting" from the needle puncture would make it instinctively go up. Also the chest on a miniaure puts you in a vunerable position. I will stick with the neck. IMO the butt puts...

    Would you buy

I agree, I don't expect to pay more that the price listed and wouldn't pay less because something WASNT included, I would walk away.

Mud and Manure Balls in coat

So I just got a new horse, he is a little guy at 28" he is a silver buckskin colt. Problem is he was in an unusual sitation and his former Mummy was not in a situation to get him groomed etc. I have a feeling that he was kept in a mud and manure filled pen with no where to get dry as he also...

    Quality enough for AMHA shows?

Perhaps at some point halter classes will be divided stock/hunter type for our bigger boned horses. I too show a stoutly built gelding and he did ok under some judges (he has great confirmation but is big boned) and not so well under others. Was told he was too coarse to compete at one show by...

OH MY GOSH ANGEL FOALED I wasn't ready! and

Sometimes it is so fun to take a trip down memory lane. Had any more surprises like that one Marty? I would of bet that was a filly glad I didn't wager money on it. I got such an adrenaline rush just imagining you running around crazy, I can't imagine what you were feeling.

OH MY GOSH ANGEL FOALED I wasn't ready! and

What a great read, I was thinking it was real time. So anyway was it a filly or colt, I never did see the answer? Thanks for a really great laugh this morning, it is snowing outside and it was just what I needed. Beautiful filly/colt even though it would be 7 now!

    Blind Mini, looking for tips.

Try putting a bell in the mane of a companion horse. I had a mini that I rescued that was totally blind and another that wasn't. They lived in a stall together and I braided a swiss cow bell into his mane, a pretty big one that was easy to hear. I led them around together in the arena where...

    Gelding - Aftercare

Well the appointment is scheduled for the afternoon of April 5th. I guess my vet requires they have tetanus vaccine updated 30 days before (done already) and that they are confined for 48 hours after the surgery. (We will go over all after-care requirements in detail.) He has no problem with...

    Gelding - Aftercare

Thank you Dr. Taylor, I hadn't given much thought to pain management, less pain would equal more movement which would hopefully equal less swelling. Banamine would be my choice. Does everyone do a tetanus booster right before surgery even if the horse is current on it's shots? I think that as...

    New Here! With Minis

I use a round pen to exercise all of mine and I have never had a problem. At shows we lunge them on a line out about 20' so a 40' circle. I have never had a problem with them. On a side note, I never leave halters on mine. They only wear them when I am working with them. There is always a...

    Gelding - Aftercare

I am going to be gelding my five year old black stallion this spring. I plan to do this before the flies get bad and before he goes to my sisters ranch. It has been a long time since I have had to deal with gelding any size horse. I wondered what you have experienced as fat as the aftercare...
