It was a sad day at school today.

On Friday, coming back from a party, 2 students from my high school were involved in a car accident. Both made it to the hospital but one died that day. The other was in critical condition. A broken left leg and sprained left ankle, a fractured pelvis which was bent in half, a large gash on his head, a broken arm, and something wrong with his heart (I cannot remember). He has been in an induced coma since that night, and we all thought he would pull through, but today he died. He was the brother of a kid in my Spanish class, and the brother of last year's FFA NH state secretary.

May Carl Burke and Steve Hodgeman rest in peace.

Another accident happened on Sunday. The driver was unfarmiliar with the road she was on and was confused by the fog. She hit a tree and was killed, the two others (One a student from my high school) are at the hospital. May she rest in peace as well, and may the others have a speedy, successful recovery.

I also just heard about an accident involving a Pinkerton Academy (my school) alumni, UNH student who was also killed in another car accident.

Everyone, please be safe when driving. It has been an emotional day.

I shouldn't have read this. Michael just got his license two weeks ago and I've been a mess every day since.

That is so sad. I feel for their parents, I can't imagine the pain in their hearts right now.....So senseless. I am sorry for you also, it is so hard to understand this, and so many students in one weekend.

My prayers are with you and with their families at this tragic time.

Jessica,

What a tragic weekend for many...... I can't imagine what their families must be going through.....well, in a way I do......

I am so sorry for the losses, they are great, those so young and healthy then completely gone, forever...certainly not the way it was planned to be.

Please know my thoughts are with you and especially their parents. I can't imagine the pain they are all in.

I heard about it. I know how hard it must be for you. A couple of years ago two girls from my school got into an accident.

The roads were slippery. The SUV flipped. They both died. They were cousins. I cant even imagine how much pain their family went through. I didnt even know them but just hearing about it made me cry. Now they are the schools angels. The school's hallways & classrooms were covered in paper angels for months.

That is terribly sad and Im very sorry for their friends and families losses!

Last year one of my good friends got in a car accident and died. He was only 17 and we were juniors. He was on his way to school when it happened. It was icy out and the school board decided that it was not bad enough to delay or close school. Elliot was coming around a corner and hit a patch of ice....his truck spun out of control and hit a tree. I keep thinking that he would still be alive if only they had delayed school an hour because of the icy roads. Elliot was a great person and didnt deserve to die at that young of an age. RIP Elliot!

A couple of months ago 4 boys from my school that were headed to a soccer game got in a car accident. They were goofing off and speeding...the driver lost control of the car and they hit a tree. 2 of the passengers died, 1 of the passengers was taken to the hospital in serious condition, and the driver was taken to the hospital in fair condition. The driver is now possibly going to have charges brought against him. RIP Andy and Michael!

When your young....I can say this from experience.....you dont think anything is going to happen to you. Elliot's death made me realize that it only takes one moment for everything to change....and its scary to think we could be here one moment and gone the next. It's a shame things like this have to happen to make us realize that we are not invincible. Like Jamie said....please be safe while driving.
