HersheyMint are you in the danger zone of the devastating fires in California?

Is there anyone else on the forum that may be?

We are a diverse and spread out group but if someone needs a safe landing zone, we have room.

been affected by a wildfire once. I'll never forget sitting in my bedroom one evening and realizing that glow I was seeing was the wildfire raging away in the foothills(I grew up in north WI and had never seen anything like it before), got lucky and didn't have to evacuate. Offered to help one of my coworkers move horses and cattle but thankfully she was able to get them moved. Her parents were less lucky. That blaze decided to randomly change directions during the night and they lost a bunch of horses and cattle. Scary!

The only good thing about these terrible fires is, if the area is properly maintained(i.e. deadfall logging, small prescribed burns during wetter seasons to remove dead brush etc.) when things start to grow back they shouldn't have to worry about such horrifying destructive fires like this in the area for a very long time. If they don't maintain things it will be a matter of when(not if) it will happen again. Everything has been forcefully re-set they need to take advantage of it for their own sake.

Hi, Thank you for checking on us. We are safe. We are over a hour from the nearest fire in the L.A. area. We do have a fire that started 2 days ago about 15 miles from us but it is 75% contained now. That was a worry. It is so nice of you to offer a safe place, if needed.
It is horrific what fire can do. I can't imagine what they are going through. Some owners had no insurance because companies stopped covering in CA. All so very sad.

It’s good to read that you and your bunch are safe. That is awful about the insurance also. I can’t imagine starting over with nothing. ☹️

We (family) have an older ranch home our parents bought when we were kids in northwest Florida. Many insurance companies there have also pulled out and the rates naturally just go up and up.

The offer still holds! 🙂 If you do hear of someone with horses/livestock/pets that has no place they are welcome - no charge.
