They were at the cardiologist today and the doctor is so thrilled with Riley's improvements! Her heart repairs seem to be perfect! Oxygen levels at 100 percent! When checking her, she fights the entire time, she has had enough of this fun. She is up to 7 pounds and has outgrown most of her preemie clothes. She still can't cry, but we are so happy with the rest, we will be patient and wait for that to happen. No further tests will be done for that for another 5 months.

Blake is at 9 pounds 3 ounces, obviously he has zero problems eating! His oxygen saturation level continues to drop, which we knew would, but he is safe enough to hold off surgery just a little longer.

The rest of the family is in good spirits and extremely thankful! As we all are.

Big brother Aidan was telling me a story half using words, half jibberish, about how a pea goes in your mouth, not your nose mamma. Guess what he had done?

great news.

I am so glad they are doing better.

you all will be in our prayers.

enjoy them

LOL Carolyn!!! Why do boys always think things should go in their noses???

Congratulations on the twins' improvements! It sounds like they are coming right along and will be sticking things in their noses too before long!

Thanks for sharing the update with us. It sounds like things are going well.

I'm so glad to hear that things are progressing so well for the babies!!! That's the greatest news!

If you don't mind my asking, Carolyn, why is Riley unable to cry? Is it just because she was premature? How does she communicate her needs? (As mothers, we all learn to recognize the different cries and what they might mean, right?) From what you've described, she sounds like a feisty wee thing so I'm sure she has no trouble letting you know what's on her mind. :)

Great news, I'm so glad to hear they are both doing so well

Judy, Riley has either weakness or damage to her vocal chords from being on the vent so long, not sure which yet. If it is weakness it could take months to heal. She can make little squeaks, but if she is flat out mad, nothing comes out. My daughter keeps her in sight so she knows, and only once has my daughter woke during the night and Riley was crying. I'm sure God is helping them, as Blake is always the first to wake and want to eat.

Carolyn-

So glad they are doing well. Will be really happy for all of you when Blake has his surgery behind him.

My little Noah continues to do well - should come home in the next couple of days I think. At this point, the nurses are letting Erin do most of the care, making sure she is ready to take care of him at home.

These little ones sure get into your hearts.

So glad to hear the update Carolyn! I'm very happy for you and your family that things are going good, I know it will be a relief to finally have Blakes surgery behind you and all well.

Thanks, Carolyn. I forgot about the vent. Duh.

Oh I am so glad to hear that all the little babies are doing well... Just great news. I hope everyone continues to improve. Poor Blake..It would be nice if he didn't have to have surgery at all...
