Hey All

Kevin and I have been thinking about adding a Bernese Mountain Dog to the family for a while now. I think they are definately one of the most beautiful breeds in the world. Well...we saw an ad for a 1 1/2 year old un-altered female named Callie. We lost a 2 year old long-haired shepherd that was named "Kali" last December, so this seemed to be a "sign". She's apparently a little shy -as you can see by her tail tucked between her legs-. We'll be patient and gentle with her. We do want to get more seriously into breeding, so she'll be bred either this summer or the next if it seems that she's "not ready". She's registered with the CKC and has great bloodlines. I am a little worried about Riis; her last owner said that Riis does not tolerate other females very well. Oh well, we'll just keep them absolutely separate.

Callie is on her way from Burks Falls, ON. She'll be here tonight! I can't wait to meet her!

Matt, she is so beautiful!!! And, I fully follow what you are saying about a "sign". I always look for those types of indications that something was meant to be

Callie is stunning!!! Bernese Mt. Dogs are wonderful! We have an older altered male that we adopted from the humane society earlier this year. Our fellow, Tucker, is like having a big live huge teddy bear.

My friends have one. They are swiss people so their dogs name is Oki.... they groomed her and saved the hair for a year and then spun it with angora rabbit fur for hats for their little boys.... the only problem was when they got wet in the snow they smelled like wet dog.! These are wonderful dogs and I wish you great luck getting your girls to accept each other .

I agree Bernese Mt. Dogs are beautiful! Best of luck to you and your new little girl. Post now and then and give us updates on her.

Callie is gorgeous! I love the smile on her face.

I wonder why she needed a new home.

My best friend hada BMD for many years and she was a wonderful dog!!!!! The only "bad" thing was that she had problems with peeing all the time, and had to be on a special medication for it. Apparently it's quite common in this breed but, even so, my friend and her family adored their Bear.

Good luck with Callie, Matt. I hope you and Kevin have many happy years with her.

Too funny. I saw a show on Newfoundlands once; this woman spun hats etc. from their fur. But...she stressed that she had a cleaning process that got rid of the wet dog smell. If I end up doing that, I'll have to find out the process
