Received this yesterday, in the subject line it has the horse's name and price and inside it reads:

Dear Seller,

It's a pleasure getting in touch with you here. Firstly to introduce myself...I am an U.S Army and I have been thinking of buying a personal; present for myself.

I would have love to call, or come for a visit but I am not allowed for that...only allowed to communicate through email only for a security purpose.

Let me know what else you think I should know about the horse and if not, let us talk about payment arrangements.

Thanks..cheers.

I would google the email addy and see what comes up. I am very careful calling things a scam because some taken to be a scam are legitimate and people disregard them.

Usually you can tell if you reply and then get the notorious email back asking if they can send a cashiers check for more then the amount of the horse. But I always reply at least once to be sure

I got that same one yesterday too and wondered if it was a scam. I emailed back and got a reply but I haven't heard anything else.

I highly doubt any military personnel with such high security clearances, that their identity may be compomised by an actual visit, has the time or the "want" to be tied down with pets.

Unless they are stationed in Australia, I doubt they would be using cheers as a closing in their letters.

SCAM SCAM SCAM

all the way to the bank.

I also got an email from this person the other day.....Almost the same as yours. I did email with them a little bit, but right away I figured it out. I try not to judge too fast.

(I thought the comment about "letting the cat out of the cage" was funny!)

Dear Seller,

I must be sincere and tell you that I am really interested in purchasing your horse. I would have love to come and view or even making calls but due to the nature of my work, I would not be able to do that...I am only permitted to communicate through email only for security purpose...to let the cat out of cage, I work with U.S Army and I want to get the horse before I am back home.

Let me know what to do to get the horse purchased. Hoping to read from you as soon as possible....I will be glad if you can get me more photos. Thanks so much. Have a nice day.

Cheers.

Just a tip that may help someone out, when i get an email that is suspicous, i check the AMHR/ASPC members page and see if the person is on there or not...i know sometimes people are new the registrys and breed and do not have a membership but from time to time it proves that the person who inquired is "real" and not a scammer.

I got one today from the Federal Bureau Of Investigation telling me NOT to business with "SOLUDO' and that they had been invested by the Federal Bureau Of Investigation(always spelled out) " the ones that wrote this" and that they were okay to do business with them

:) So I should go ahead and send my 200.00 so I can get my money.

lolololollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

I also got two more today.....from Fed Express and one other. Guess I'm on their list so to speak.

I just write them back and tell them to Western Union my money and I will get it

No name, no address, no nothing I tell them, just wire the money.

Once I got a sad letter about how someone was trying to kill them and that they needed someone to get their money out of the country. Naturally I emailed them back and said I did not want to put my life in danger and be killed, that they needed to report this threat to the police.

They sure can come with some "stuff".

I get them all the time.

Amazing to me that evidently people fall for the most obvious scams - they must be successful now and then or they wouldn't keep doing it.

Most are generic, from "banks" or "credit card companies" but I did get one yesterday wanting to buy horses. So obviously a scam, I delete them asap.

This one just REALLY bugs me that she's posing as an US Army member
