I don't know if any of you will remember about my Arab/QH mare Ferrah who had the obnoxious fear of plastic.

Well after a LOT a John Lyons training and working with my riding instructor, we think we have nearly got her cured! Tonght at my riding lesson she let me put a plastic bag on her HEAD. The only thing she did was raise her head...and her eyes go tbig. But she let me put it on her head without having a hernia!

I will take pictures of her with some plastic as soon as I have a day off.

I was so proud of her. But plastic shaking still freaks her out so we are working on that. I couldn't believe how long this has taken...but me and my trainer are taking it really slow because poor old Ferrah is too old for this kind of excitement.

You know, those people who gave Ferrah away for free because they were afraid of her...I wish they could see her now and know what kind of love they are missing out on. Ferrah has saved me from a herd of bison, she stops for me when I fall off...and the time we had an accident she did not get up until I was awake and up! I lover her to death.

: Even if she is a bit crazy.

Also I wanted to ask the forum. I got offered an older Appaloosa gelding for free.He has lots of really good training and was used for showing and as a lesson horse. He is 14 years old and still is in great shape, he just getting sour from being ridden by little kids. He is no spooky and not afraid of plastic! I rode him the other day and he was a fun ride. He loves to jump and he was very responsive. He did have a sour look on his face when I was brushing him, but his owner says he is just ticklish. He sure came alive when we were jumping! He does have a small health problem which is why he is free. His has a lump by his throat. The vet said as long as it does not get bigger it will not affect him in any way. If it gets bigger it will have to be removed. Should I take the risk and get him? Ferrah really gets a long with him well and I think she would be happier with a paddock buddy. Plus if I got this horse I could take my horsey friends on trail rides with me and I could even show him if I wanted. Aside from a back on the long side, he had sound conformation.

Here is a picture of him in the summer.

What do you think? Should I go for it?

Well forma Competitive Hunter rider I say that gelding looks Gorgous I absolutly love him wow do you ahve any shots of him moving??

That sounds awesome for you and Ferrah!!!!!! Way to go!!!!

The gelding is simply scrumptious. I'd take him in a heartbeat! Show us the rest of him!!!! How tall is he?

This is a picture of his whole body. This is him before a leadline class in the summer. His owner says it is more important for him to have a good home than for her to sell him. With his lump it would be hard to sell him.

EDIT: He is 15.2 hands. A pretty big step up from my Ferrah's 14.2 hands.

: But I suppose if I got him I would get used to it.

He is puurty! Did you ask the vet how much it would probably cost to have the lump removed should it need to be? I'd say if you could afford the surgery should it be deemed necessacary down the road, then by all means, grab him up now before she changes her mind! I think you'd have a blast showing him! He is a tad long backed, but I think with the right saddle and saddle pad you wouldn't notice so much! Maybe its just me, but that saddle looks really small on him, and the pad looks a tad too long? I say if they fit him better, he'd look even more handsome! I think its time you and Farrah had a buddy to play with, provavided of course you can afford to keep him. (which you must be able to, or you wouldn't have asked!) Find out how much the surgery would cost, and also if he would still be sound after the surgery. If the answers to both questions please you, then go for it!

And congrats to you and Farrah too! Someday you'll go out and find her shaking a plastic bag around... well, maybe not quite that extreeme a miracle.

The vet said it woudl cost around $700-$800 to have the lump removed, provided there were no problems along the way. You cannot really notice the lump unless you feel by his throat, then you can feel it.

The saddle in the picture is so small because he was going into a leadline class with a very small kid.

NO NO NO NO NO DEFINATLEY NOT DONT YOU DARE TAKE HIM, SEND HIM OVER TO IRELAND INSTEAD LOL I :bgrin HE SURE IS PUUURDY
