I don't know if any of you will remember about my Arab/QH mare Ferrah who had the obnoxious fear of plastic.
Well after a LOT a John Lyons training and working with my riding instructor, we think we have nearly got her cured! Tonght at my riding lesson she let me put a plastic bag on her HEAD. The only thing she did was raise her head...and her eyes go tbig. But she let me put it on her head without having a hernia!
I will take pictures of her with some plastic as soon as I have a day off.
I was so proud of her. But plastic shaking still freaks her out so we are working on that. I couldn't believe how long this has taken...but me and my trainer are taking it really slow because poor old Ferrah is too old for this kind of excitement.
You know, those people who gave Ferrah away for free because they were afraid of her...I wish they could see her now and know what kind of love they are missing out on. Ferrah has saved me from a herd of bison, she stops for me when I fall off...and the time we had an accident she did not get up until I was awake and up! I lover her to death.
: Even if she is a bit crazy.
Also I wanted to ask the forum. I got offered an older Appaloosa gelding for free.He has lots of really good training and was used for showing and as a lesson horse. He is 14 years old and still is in great shape, he just getting sour from being ridden by little kids. He is no spooky and not afraid of plastic! I rode him the other day and he was a fun ride. He loves to jump and he was very responsive. He did have a sour look on his face when I was brushing him, but his owner says he is just ticklish. He sure came alive when we were jumping! He does have a small health problem which is why he is free. His has a lump by his throat. The vet said as long as it does not get bigger it will not affect him in any way. If it gets bigger it will have to be removed. Should I take the risk and get him? Ferrah really gets a long with him well and I think she would be happier with a paddock buddy. Plus if I got this horse I could take my horsey friends on trail rides with me and I could even show him if I wanted. Aside from a back on the long side, he had sound conformation.
Here is a picture of him in the summer.
What do you think? Should I go for it?
