A year ago today I went to see a mare named Kassie at Mocha Miniatures. I can acutely remember many details of that day, perhaps the one that stands out the most is sitting at a table with my mother and Cindy (from whom we got Kassie) as we signed various papers and put a deposit on the little horse. I was filled to the brim with nervous excitement, though it would be months before Kassie actually made it to my house.
Over the summer we did one class in one show, a 4H event and we placed first. Kassie excels no matter what she does, halter, jumping, obstacle, tricks(her favorite) and now driving training. Together we've enjoyed walks to town on summer days, sitting outside the general store, while she grazes and I enjoy and ice cream. We've been in a parade and a newspaper, and become well known around town.
The fall brought a few new adventures; driving training and the discovery of my girl's knack for tricks. This winter we even managed to have fun in the snow, she stood by me, waiting for an excuse to spook and charge around the paddock and return again to my side.
This horse never ceases to amaze me, her spirit, her energy, her intelligence. I can't begin to imagine life without her. Every day I can expect to smile, she's such a goof. We've become best friends and partners and I look forward to the coming years.
In one year, I have started to fulfill a dream, in one year I have made a very best friend, friendships that will last a lifetime, found a new hobby, and a new world. And the best part? It's only the beginning.
Without further ado, here are a few pictures of the past year and today.

Here Ma, put on my halter so we can get to the fun stuff!
I know I'm a smarty-pants, I got the ball like you asked!
I can lead Covergirl too....
I don't think she likes it when I pull....
I know I'm good, I know you love me. (I also know how to open the door, shhhh!) Innocence....
I know it may seem ridiculous,
posting so much because I've had a horse for a year, but she's my first and obviously my best friend.
Thanks for looking at my girl!
