ABC News Bans Flag Lapel Pins

The brass at ABC News issued orders

forbidding reporters to wear lapel pin American

flags or other patriotic insignia. Their reasoning

was that ABC should remain neutral about 'causes'.

Since when is support for preventing our death &

destruction some sort of a cause? Since when is

patriotism to be discouraged. I urge you to boycott

ABC and its sponsors and affiliates.

We are slowly losing everything our country stands

for, and everything our men and women fought and

died to preserve.

Its from '01. Its not new by any means. If you read why ABC stated this and dont read INTO it, their reason is good.

Since when is wearing an American flag pin considered anything BUT patriotic, showing your love for your country? Next they will be telling us we can't fly the American flag because it means we are taking sides. What a bunch of bull.

I would think if one wanted to boycott them for this reason it should have been done 7 years ago?

I do not agree with their choice to not allow the pins but again this was 7 years ago.

This country is so concerned about offending others, that we don't mind offending ourselves.

We can't say Christmas anymore, we might offend someone. We can't say Halloween at schools anymore, we might offend someone. We can't wear American Flag pins, because we might offend someone .... whether they live in this country called THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA or not.

Whether it was 7 years ago or yesterday IMO they're depriving their employees of their constitutional rights. I know I may be more patriotic than some but it burns me big time when people act like patriotism doesn't matter or is out of vogue. I've never been able to stand (at attention) through a retreat ceremony or watch Old Glory pass me by in a parade without tears of pride. I've never heard the National Anthem played at a function without either placing my hand over my heart or presenting a salute. Call me a fool but I love my country and I'm darned proud that I do.

As Snopes states, this is from 7 years ago. Does anyone KNOW if its still in effect or expired 6 years ago? Or do people like to get mad at everything!!??!!!???
