Exactly it all sounds a little fishy to me too. If they went to the same airport they probably met each other then if nothing else. I guess i'm just a suspicious person..... especially when someone is being nasty about something that was obviously a mistake.

btw..do these two people know each other? Is it possible they are working in Kahoots? I mean i find it odd that BOTH are demanding their full money back plus want to keep the pups.
I had to read this one twice. WOW! I have to say the whole thing sound fishy to me.

How can two separate people NOT KNOW THE SEX OF A PUPPY????????

How can two separate people come up with the same solution?????????

Did you ever think that the airline might not be responsible and that these people are scamming you?Somethings not right here.

Sorry-I misrepresented part of it. The pups are in different cities and they do not know each other. The second person whom I called and found out had the other pup was OK with it-albeit he wanted a male. He did not ask for any money back at first. I did make him the offer though that if he wanted to return the pup I would refund it or if he kept him I would refund any money that Delta gave me. At first it was "No I will keep my pup"-Now it is "I will think about it and get back to you". I doubt either one will return the pups and as someone stated above , I am done with it. I sent a long letter to both via email explaining my feelings, again making the offer to return and refund-or keep and get over it. My conscience is clean and I slept well last night. I am done with it!

Thanks everyone for hearing me out! I was SOO upset yesterday. To have someone attack my integrity and threaten me was more than I could take. My husband had to take over for awhile. I wont let it get me down though-there are always those people out there trying to take advantage of any situation...

Thanks for the support!

I just got back to this and want to make another comment. Delta is one of the airlines that I would not use, I avoid them like the plague!!! I would rather my puppies have to change plans with Northwest Airlines, then ship Delta!!! They do not have a very good reputation on shipping dogs.

I guess one of the biggest questions that was not asked, I think you said they were on the same flight? Why would Delta board them in the same kennel in the boarding facility over night? That could be the only way they could have mixed the puppies up. If one puppy was put in the kennel with its crate, then were would the mix up be? It is obvious that Delta put them both in the same kennel run. How many others do they do this with? What kind of sickness could they have spread if they have done this in the past with other puppies?

These people are being totally unreasonable. It would be up to Delta to come get the puppies from these owners and arrange to have them shipped and deliverd to the right owners. If the people are not willing to do this and want to keep their puppy, then they have made their decision and no monies are owed to either party. I will again say, HOW DUMB CAN PEOPLE BE THAT THEY TOOK SO LONG TO FIGURE OUT THEY HAD THE WRONG SEX!!! :DOH! :DOH! :DOH!

I bet though that Delta says it was your fault and they never took the puppies out, so how could they have gotten into the wrong crates.

i've never had a problem with delta but I do think the people are being pretty unreasonable especially for people that didn't even relise it was the wrong sex for so long..LOL some people are just fruitloops

13 yrs ago last August my "MALE" Anatolian Shepherd was shipped to me with his "sister" being shipped the same day/same flight. In Chicago the puppies changed plains (I live in Arizona the sister was to live in Texas.)

When my pup arrived, before I even opened the crate door I knew it was the little girl. After a call to the breeder and the "other" owner it was correct that the pups had been taken out of their crates in Chicago (against the rules) and played with, then put back in the wrong crates, as it was clearly marked MALE PUPPY on the crate that arrived with the little girl.

Originally the airport where I am was insisting that I pay to have my puppy shipped from Texas to Arizona, but when the Texas airport said there would be no charge to ship the female back to Texas, Arizona decided that they would then to the same.

I took the little girl home as it was terribly hot (luckily I live about 15 minutes from the airport) I got a call about a 1/2 hour later that they would hold a plane if I could get her back there. So she was sent to Texas and the airlines kept my pup at cargo until they could send him to me. The ranchers handyman who had picked up my pup was given a good ribbing for not knowing the pup was a male, especially since he had put Seven powder all over him to try and kill all the FLEAS...

My boy had left Virginia at 5 a.m eastern time and finally arrived in Phoenix at 8 p.m. Pacific time. He was sooooo tired.

Yes, it does happen and I would guess your pups were taken out of their crates and played with. I don't have a problem, personally, with their doing that. The pups get to get out and run and potty and get tons of attention. It is only a problem if there is more than one sent at a time.

I do have a problem with it if there are more than one puppy. Especially if the other puppies are not from you. Lets face it, if they are taking the puppies out to play, they are taking all of the puppies out to play. There are many many puppy mill puppies being shipped. I know when I go to the airport sometimes the cargo area is loaded with these puppies and I request that mine are not put any where near these. You can ship out a perfectly healthy puppy and if exposed to a sick puppy, your puppy could be dead with in 10 days and you would be the one refunding the money, and having a buyer think that you are not taking proper care of your puppies.

Northwest airlines puts a electric tie on the crate doors so that they can not be opened without replacing the ties (they can not be uses again). This will discourage most of their employees from taking the puppies out of the crate.

Well both parties have agreed they will keep their puppies-One very willingly-the other with much begrudging and still the threats of internet bad mouthing! Delta has had no comment yet since it has been two weeks I had to file a Service Failure Claim. I filed the claim and will refund any monies received directly to the families. They sent me a long list of all the things I SHOULD have done, and all the breeders they say told them I was completely in the wrong-but there are always more than one side to a story! It is obvious they are embarrased, as they admitted in their first email, because they told all their friends and bought pink collars and bowels and now they have to tell their friends they dont know the difference between a male and female. I know I did everything I knew was right and will make changes and learn from this lesson.
