I have read about this weight loss product, Alli and know about it's rather unpleasant side effects IF you don't take it as directed...so I wanna hear if any of you have taken it, does it really work, did you have a problem with the side effects and would you recommend it?

I think my scale is broken and all my clothes have shrunk!!

hi Linda,

My friend tried Alli, and she only took it for a week, it made her feel sick all the time, I was also going to try it. I ended up trying Hydroxicut Max for woman and have lost 22 pounds, in 3 months. It really works, just make sure to follow the directions and not take to much...... it made me alittle jittery and then I cut back on it alittle but am now taking the suggested doseages. You need to drink alot of water, and I just started eating better. Let me know if you have any other questions, about it. Kathy

Just read a blog on Colon Cleanse and Hydroxicut Max from a girl that says she lost 20 lb in about six weeks,

I really wonder. I tried Alli and yest the side effects can be PRETTY EMBARASSING. I will stick with WW, just making better choices for meals. I found that eating a small "snack" instead of a big supper has helped me a lot. I eat my "big" meal at lunchtime. Good luck finding what works best for you.

It does work....but the key is to not eat fatty foods (hence you won't have the embarassing side effects). You can not just still eat how you normally would, you have to change your eating habits....which you can do without the pill. I really think the gimic to this product (which is expensive) is to discourage you from eating the fatty foods, so you won't have.......umm, leakage.

A friends of mines parents have been using medi-fast. Her Dad lost 30 lbs in 2 months, her Mother only lost about 15...but still that's great. I've been wanting to try it. It is about $300/month (again expensive)...you still have to buy your dinner though. It supplies you with shakes and snacks you eat every 2 hours and then eat a healthy, sensible dinner.

Yes, Sonya...that is why I think it works...and I guess part of the reason why I wanted to try it...It will strongly discourage me from eating fatty foods that I eat now. I do try to eat healthyfoods, but dinner time is my big downfall...tired from work, partner doesnt get home from work til almost 8 pm...so its easy to go out and eat.

I am however having 2nd thoughts about taking it...The ultimate goal IS to change my life style eating habits permanently...and I need to do this without pills. Deb and I went grocery shopping last night and we are getting good (I think) at looking at food labels and choosing foods that are better for us.

Maybe I just need to go on Biggest Loser....

(I have learned some important things from watching that show actually).

The problem with weight loss pills is that you do not learn to eat healthy. That said you can gain the weight back fast no matter how you lose it. The trick is not only to eat healthy but to eat a wide variety of food so you do not get bore.

I do WW and have lost over 60 lb in the last year. A total of 95 lb in the last 5 years on various diets that I lost and gained lost and gained. Weight Watcher has been by far the easiest. I am eating better foods and a bigger variety. It is working for me because I am willing to try new recipes. I do not eat the same thing over and over. I do not deprive myself of chocolate or ice cream. It has become second nature for me to pick out better foods.

I dont really want to have to go onto weight loss pills but am curious for those of you that use the weight watchers or other things like that, if they have food options for super picky people. I am the worlds pickiest eater and therefore have trouble finding things that I like that arent horrible for you and still easier to make. My goal is to lose 40 lbs but I have trouble finding healthier foods that I like. I get bored with rabbit food really fast!

With WW you eat normal food, not prepackaged. They teach you to make healthier choices in what you like to eat, say for instance you like cheese on a sandwich, you eat light bread (two slices one point) one slice of your normal cheese (two points) and turkey with lettuce and light mayo (one point for one tbs) So you have eaten 4 points. If you want two sandwiches, you account for 8 points. Depending on your weight and how many points you get, you stay totally full. It is a great program, but it REALLY helps if you go to the meetings once a week. You will get great recipe ideas, make new friends, etc.

Maple Hollow:

If you like tomatoes, onions, celery and pepper (or any of those you don't like you can leave out) try this. Cut up the above veggies into small cubes. (no points on WW). Mix them in a bowl with a tbs of olive oil, a splash of vinigrette, basil, garlic powder (or cubed garlic if you prefer) and mix it all up. Use plenty of basil.

Take a Boboli bread and cut it into slices like pizza. Toast a slice and when toasted, top this with your veggie mix. It is very filling, very tasty and very "skinny".

Ok this sounds fairly do-able

. How do you get the info on how many points everything is and also the points allowed per day?

! I saw toast and said yum then I read the rest. How many points is toast smothered in butter, sugar, and cinnamon...see what I mean, I am horribly unhealthy and love that but not the weight! Thanks though for the suggestion!

You don't like any of those veggies???? You are picky. You can top that with any veggie you like. what about the olive oil and vinigrette, do you like that????

WW has a web page that you can go to for points on foods. Try it out and good luck.

Nope I only like corn, raw potatoes, raw string beans, and radishes for veggies, lol. And no to the olive oil and vinigrette too lol! I will check out the website, thanks!!!

With Weight Watchers you can eat anything you want, you just count the points. You will lose faster if you eat by the healthy guide lines.

That means:

Milk in some form every day. That could be yogurt, hard cheese, milk, some coco's. certain powdered drink mixes.

Veggies and/or fruit every day.

Liquids - it is no longer just water

2 tsps of Healthy oils

exercise - even house work or walking to the mail box

The trick is to track every thing you eat and look up point values of every little thing. After a while it gets to be second nature.

They recommend a variety of foods so you do not get bored with what you are eating. You make the choice of what to eat and track the points.

My normal day might be something like this:

breakfast:

1/2 blueberries

1/2 c milk

1/2 c kashi go lean cereal

3 points

snack:

yogurt or fruit

1 point

Lunch:

sandwich round

tuna salad made with low fat mayo, relish and celery

pickle

4 points

snack:

fiber bar or pudding

2 points

dinner:

stir fry made with a package of pre cut stir fry veggie, shrimp or chicken, 2 tbl of stir fry sauce

glass of milk

5 points

snack:

sugar free or low fat ice cream of some sort.

2 points

I will dump my oil on my dinner

2 points

I to not stick with it perfectly. That day I was short on the milk. The points vary with how much I take.

I have been doing WW. Its been a bit of a challenge since nobody else in the house is on a diet, and I was all over the place the last month . However in the last 4 months I have lost 26 pounds.........only a LOT more to go.
